    Talking OMG Barrels!!!

I have been doing english for five or so yrs and me and my boy just started doing some trail riding along with english. For the fun of it we tried a barrel racing lesson and it is SO MUCH FUN!!! Since were just starting we just walked and trotted the pattern and even that was a TON of fun! My boy was listening PERFECTLY and started thinking immediately. He even remebered the pattern some by himself! Were going to keep working on it for fun, and the owner of the barn said soon we can start cantering the barrels and work from there! I am so excited! Well I just wanted to post about our fun time, but I was wondering if you guys think its ok to do barrels, jumping and trail riding. I personally think its great b/c it makes us well rounded and keeps things interesting, and we both seem to be enjoying it, but what do you guys think? Thanks in adv!

Absolutely! However, definitely make sure that your horse is not overworked, and that it is important to choose one discipline as their main one. For instance, our barrel horses are rode on trails twice a week to get their mind off of racing.

Yeah I usually ride about four times a week, which would include one barrel lesson (prob) a jumping lesson, and a trail ride (some of the time) jumping is prob. Our main thing at the moment, trail riding is like our relaxing thing and barrel racing is for fun. Right now I am taking a break from jumping for a few weeks, but soon we will be getting back in the groove...i guess we will just kinda work on what we feel like on that day lol!

It is good to keep things interestin for the horses. They really need that. They are all like 5 year old and need something to keep them out of trouble. So I thinkg that sounds great
