Question Posting?

The horse I ride right now has a awful trot. It's really bouncy and just plain uncomfortable to ride. I started posting on him around 2 weeks ago. I was plain AWFUL. I got the wrong diagonals, then I started a bad habit of looking down to look at the leg when It came up (even though I could feel the strides) and when I looked down I didn't pay attention to the horse so he started taking advantage of that. I thought it was a one time thing because I'm fine with posting in an english saddle so I just shook it off. Then I rode him again and I did the same thing, after I rode him a went to my H/J class and we trotted in circles. I was good. I had another lesson today and I was fine with posting, I rode him after my lesson and the same thing happened wrong diagonals so I started looking down he took control...

Im wondering is there away to fix my posting? I only have a limited amount of time on him and he is the only horse I ride in western so I can't really practice. I don't have a trainer for him so I can't get help for that.

You can take a horse out of the wild, but you can’t take the wild out of the horse!

So you're saying you only have trouble keeping track of your diagonals when you ride this horse western? Otherwise, no problem?

I post western but since the stirrups are a lot longer, my post is really small. It's just barely rising out of the saddle. Maybe you are trying too hard. Just pick up what feels right at first and as you go along, if it feels wrong, do the sit one "bounce" and see if thta doesn't make it feel right. Unless you are doing small circles, it really doesn't matter that much.
