Question about western tack

This one is pretty straightforward.

Is it OK to use a running martingale on a bit such as this one:

Although some trainers do, I never liked the idea. If I need a running martingale (Western term is training fork), I switch to a snaffle.

Hmmm, that was my feeling also. I didn't like the idea of using a running martingale on a bit with leverage and a curb, but as I am unfamiliar with these types of bits in general I thought maybe I was being over cautious. It is actually for a someone else's horse that will ride in a snaffle so that is definitely an option.

Thanks so much for the response.
