Roped my first cattle today!!

So I'm so excited!!! After yearsssssss of english riding on my horse, my instructor let me learn western on her horse because I have been interested in western recently. I took a liking to roping and after only a WEEK of roping lessons I roped my first cattle!!!!! Eeeeeeeeeeek!!! It was so fun! Thought I would share the good news

That's awesome! Congratulations .

Always remember that feeling of looking at a big, open country over the ears of a good horse, seeing a new trail unwind ahead of you, and that ever-spectacular view from the top of the ridge!!! Follow my training blog: http://robertsontraining.blogspot.com/

Well why don't you give us some more details? I am years past roping my first cow but there are other members that could benefit from your recent experience.

Well, what really frustrated me was trying to line my leg up with the calf flank. I kept concentrating on that too much and let other things slip my mind. The first few tries I threw the lasso too close to the calfs head and kept missing. Lil suckers move fast! I don't have much upper body strength so trying to tighten the lasso was hard for me too as for securing the calfs legs hahahaha I bet was a knee slapper to watch; but hey, I did it!
