Saddle Advice

Of course, as the forces of nature work against me, none of my three saddles fits the 'new' horse.

Right now I am borrowing a really nice Bates Dressage saddle. That fits him very well, and so far he seems happy about it and moving under it. It was possibly the first time I saw him getting tacked up where he didn't fuss or snap at you when you girthed him up. (I've worked around him for a while, but just bought him not long ago)

He has large withers, I know he will be tough to fit, but anyone have any suggestions? Perhaps websites, stores, or ideas that you can buy and try before you commit?

I ride western and prefer that. I ride mostly pleasure, so a training type saddle might fit our 'lifestyle' best. I would take an all around cowhorse or reining saddle but I don't think I will find one to fit my large withered pleasure horse.
But any ideas would help. Not real fussy on the price, so long as its quality and fits real good.

I had a similar problem with my OTTB. I finally found an older circle y barrel saddle that fits her very well. I couldn't get any of the pleasure or rope saddles we had to fit. It was very frustrating. I wish you luck, it is not an easy road to be on, but my suggestion is to try some older sqhb saddles. Make sure you take a good look at the gullet, and I found a good felt cut away pad helped a lot.
