Showing at local fairs

Hey guys, next year I am probably going to be taking one of the mares I ride to some local fairs to do some showing. I will probably be competing in barrels, poles, and maybe some pleasure classes. I was just wondering if they really look at what kind of tack you have at these shows? I am looking into getting a western saddle right now, and I have found a really nice billy cook barrel saddle that is wide (its an older model), which is what I need for both my pony and this mare I plan on showing. However, it has no silver on it and obviously isn't a show saddle. My coach, who used to show western pleasure, wants me to get a pleasure saddle so that I can show pleasure, but I really would prefer a barrel saddle. She said that you can't show in a barrel saddle, but I am wondering if at local shows and fairs if you have to have a barrel saddle for the pleasure classes?
Thanks,
Danny.

Depending on the show, and the fair, you may have a better chance with show tack. However, if you are just in it for fun, I wouldn't worry too much

Ok.. thanks! I think my friend has a cheap pleasure saddle with some bling on it.. we could use that and then use my barrel saddle for the games.

If you're just doing rodeo kind of stuff (i.e. Barrels/poles) then tack doesn't matter. But if you're doing Western pleasure or equitation then yes tack is crucial.
