Western disciplines in English saddle

Just curious here. Has anyone done the western disciplines (like, say, team penning or sorting) in English saddle? Is it possible in general and if not why?

I am sure you could and I have seem some pictures on some of the forums of people doing it but I would not want to do it. There is a reason why the western saddle was made and used when working cattle and doing these type of events.

I feel like you would just fly forward if your horse made a hard stop and turn to get a cow. You'd have to have an amazing seat. I took some cutting lessons and it was hard enough to ride two-handed (for training the horse, but still in a western saddle), I wouldn't dream of working cows in an english saddle. There's a whole lot of momentum at work if you're doing it right.

I'm not sure if this counts, but I have gathered/mustered cattle in english saddles.
Now I wasn't riding a true blue cutting horse or anything, nor were we cutting them out for branding and such, but I wasn't just poking along either.
We often had to muster them from the open pasture for transport or vet work and I was able to herd, bring back, and dive after bolters fairly well.
Haven't done it for a while, but still would have no problem going out and doing it more often in an english saddle.
