Ya saddle is definitely not too long...if anything just try a little shorter saddle pad - you only need about an inch of the saddle pad peeking out on the front and back of the saddle.

I can see why you would think the saddle is too long if you're used to a barrel saddle! Aside from barrel saddles, lots of western saddles are that long on a horse. As long as your weight is not far enough back to be on top of the horses kidneys, you are okay.

I must be tired, I have this overwhelming desire to point out that teh OP didn't ask for opinions on hooves or throatlashes much as I agree with the comments.

I would like to see more pics to say a lot about the fit, but the length looks workable, just be watchful for any rubbing, and listen to the feedback she gives you.

My un asked for feedback, LOL, turning your fenders will make life more comfortable for you!

You wouldn't mind if I stole both your horse and your saddle, now would you? ;)

Haha she is my baby girl, I'll never let her go so yeah no stealing here :P

On another note yeah the saddle is still pretty new, I promise the throat latch is not as bad as it looks in the pic and I am going to have her feet done by my previous farrier. I switched farriers due to a move and some unfortunate circumstances but that's another story.

That would be "he" actually. I'm not going.to be offended by things that I'm already unhappy with, like her feet for instance. Yeah it's not the answer to the question I asked but you all helped me confirm something I've already been thinking for some time now.
