Well..that's what I just got home from about 40 minutes ago.(: we went out to Snedeker's Arena in Darlington, PA. Anyone else heard of/ridden there?
I really like their arena..aside from my exhibition run, haha. For barrels, the have a pocket on each side with fencing that moves to open or close them off. It's the perfect size to get around the barrel nice and tight, or a little wide (or in my case..slightly too tight). The concept is telly cool.
So, even with expensive classes ($5, when I'm use to $3 lol), I have to say it was probably my favourite show so far in my 2 years of showing. Even though I was freezing..and didn't get any pictures >.<
But, I took 5 seconds off my barrel run (was about 24-26 on average) and went down to a 19.4 something..plus my fault for knocking the second barrel and ruining my knee, haha. I took 7 seconds from my poles run! Went from 34-36 average to a 27.89 or so. Messed up stakes..Lucky decided she wanted to take off from the end spin instead of weaving back through the cones, but it's okay..partially my fault for not using leg until it was too little, too late. :p And my Arena Race/Down and Back (around one barrel at opposite end) was 9.998..which was only about .6 off the winning time.(: Next show I'll have to demonstrate the "Crazy Raccoon" and see if it motivates Lucky (or anyone lol) more. :p
But..I'm extremely disappointed in Lucky's behaviour in the ring with other riders and outside of the ring waiting for our runs. We almost took out about 5 different riders with kicks..as well as multiple cars, trucks, and (fancy) trailers. ;;
She -never- acts like that..Ever. And she almost went up, twice. I'll admit to being in her mouth a bit the first time to make sure she didn't hit any cars/the barn/other riders, but the second time I had a good amount of slack in my reins. :/ She hasn't kicked in awhile, she hasn't bucked and dropped her shoulder doing circle work (warming up), she has -never- thought of rearing, and she was never as unmanageable as she was today. I understand that it was a new place and it got dark after a bit, but she's trained far enough along that it shouldn't matter at all. She's a finished trail and gaming horse that travels to shows 3 hours or less away, she shouldn't freak out like that. I would've understood a kick or two when people came cantering behind us with their boots hitting her tail, but we were near no one and had fits. I'm so glad the red tie was still in the trailer and I put it on before we went to warm-up. ;;
I just wanna let out what all went on this evening, lol. I wanna talk about it, but my mum isn't very horsey..and it's almost 1 in the morning. XD
