In NRCHA affiliate events there is a pattern which you must work the cow in. It consists of keeping the cow at the end of the arena like a cutting horse would and then working them along the fence and circling them. In the weekend shows there is no cutting like the aged events in NRCHA. Your best bet would be to go to NRCHA web site and pull up the rules and patterns.
