Please could members also read the forums Conscientious Etiquette Policy
. Link below https://www.horseforum.com/horse-for...e-policy-6069/ The Forum Rules: 1- Please thoroughly read the rules before posting.
All posters must make themselves familiar with the forum rules so they can have a better understanding of the board. 2- Usernames
Please choose a username you will be satisfied with using for the duration of your membership at the Horse Forum. We do not change members' usernames upon request without there being a very good reason because that would make it difficult for everyone to keep track of who is who on the forum.
We suggest that members avoid using their real names or property names to avoid compromising their anonymity.
We suggest that members do not incorporate their horse's name into their username so that they are not stuck with a username related to a horse they may no longer have some day, the same applies to any other username you may no longer identify with or care for in the future.
Do not use your email address as your username Business names may not be used as usernames.
See Rule 10
Anyone doing either of the above or selecting an inappropriate username will be asked to change that name by starting a discussion thread in Talk to the Team. 3. Do not bring arguments/drama to this Forum
from other forums and do not carry arguments/drama from one thread to another. 4. This forum is PG Rated, and all threads should follow the forum's rating. No adult themes.
The exception to this rule being conversations about horse matters such as sheath cleaning and breeding. Any topics about this must remain clean and mature. Additionally, while the Horse Forum encourages members to express themselves, images (including avatars or signatures) that are shocking, offensive, or otherwise inappropriate will be removed.
This includes videos that contain bad language and/or inappropriate content 5- Please do not use excessive Net-Speak.
Please spell out your words. For example: Say "Your" instead of "ur", and say "to" instead of "2" etc. Keep in mind, that not all members of this forum speak English as a first language, it is already hard enough for them to translate our slang terms but the net-speak makes it a lot harder for them, since there is no way to translate it. Furthermore, do not type in all caps, or in alternating caps, or use excessive exclamation points or question marks. (Example. DON'T TYPE LIKE THIS oR LiKe ThIs!!!!!111!!!!!????///)
Helpful Hint - Members will find your posts a lot easier to read and understand if you use correct paragraphs and punctuation. 6- Please title your threads properly.
When posting a thread in which you need help, don't title the thread "Help". Title the thread something more appropriate that pertains to what you need help with. This way you are more likely to get a response, and other users that have the same question or problem may not repost the topic since there was already a discussion on it.
If your thread isn't getting as much attention as you'd hoped for please do not start another identical thread with a new title and/or in a new part of the forum. Please use the Report 'button' (Exclamation mark in a grey triangle) to ask the Moderating Team to change the title and/or move the thread to another part of the forum.
Helpful Hints -
When asking for advice please try to give as much information as you can about your experience level, your horse, your situation and your location. It will help members to give you the information that you need without needing to ask multiple questions or make assumptions 7- No flooding or spamming the forums or the threads.
Do not post your own repetitive, duplicate topics on The Horse Forum.
The Moderating and Administration Teams reserve the right to merge threads where the subject matter is considered to be a duplicate.
If you need to edit your post to add something you forgot, there is an Edit button you may use.
You have twenty minutes to edit your own post. If you miss that time limit you can use the report feature to ask someone in the Team to edit for you. 8- Trolls and Fantasy members
Do not accuse any member of being a troll or a liar within a thread
These call outs will be removed. Members that make them could be infracted and offenders who repeatedly ignore requests to not do it will be banned.
If you suspect that someone is either a troll or lying, contact the Horse Forum Moderating Team via a PM, Talk To The Team Section, or use the report post feature. 9. Rules for Critique Forums
Riding Critique Forum – Members may post pictures/videos of only themselves for a riding critique. It is prohibited to post pictures/videos of others riding for the purposes of a riding critique. An exception for this are parents who can ask critique for their underage children. Parents, if you share a video of your child, please state your relationship to the child in your post so the Moderating Team and other users get that the video isn't just of some strange invidual. Conformation Critique Forum

is not allowed on Horseforum.com. This means that you may not post anything related to your business in your username, avatar, profile, signature line or Home Page or anywhere on Horseforum.com.
If you use your business name as a username we will contact you to ask you to start a thread in Talk to the Team and provide us with three suggestions for a new username, in order of preference. We may prompt you to do this by moving one of your posts to a thread in Talk to the Team.
If this request is ignored we will change your username to an ID number, either temporarily until we hear from you, or permanently if we don't hear from you. You will be sent a PM advising you of your number and the change.
Please do not use your Signature line or Home page to advertise or promote your own company or any other company. These will be removed. We reserve the right to not contact you when this happens.
Please do not use your Avatar to advertise your own company or any other company. It will be removed. We reserve the right to not contact you when this happens.
Please do not sneak advertising links into your posts by disguising them as part of the text. This rule refers to any business or company that you are involved with in any way that you could profit from the free publicity. This includes 'pay per click' schemes.
We allow members to post clearly defined links to companies, products and services that they have no affiliation with. The post and the link must be related to the question that's the topic of the thread.
If you're interested in advertising on Horseforum.com please email [email protected]
, click the Advertise link at the bottom right corner or use the Advertise button, available on toolbar on the top of every page of the forum. Forum Classifieds
. The forum does have a small classifieds section. It is for members only.
To post in there you need to have a minimum of 5 credible posts already on the forum.
The Moderating/Admin Teams reserve the right to remove any advertising we deem to be unsuitable/not in keeping with our guidelines.
It is not to be used by members who have consignment stores or any other income producing business, including horse dealing.
The forum allows members to advertise their horses for sale, lease or loan but does not allow any advertising of pets or livestock. 11 If you want to promote your own website you must link to https://www.horseforum.com/ from the site you are promoting.
Links are only allowed in your signature line
We do not allow members to link to their own sites if they have any form of selling facility on them, this includes a 'shopping cart' feature even if its not currently in use..
You cannot link to your site if you have paid advertising on it or intend to have paid advertising on it. The latter would constitute 'self promotion'.
You cannot link to your site if it’s classed as a business site.
This forum was made primarily to bring horse enthusiasts together to discuss and share our horses, and have a safe place to ask questions. We have learned from experience that allowing people who wish to promote and advertise here free rein quickly detracts from the nature of the community. Therefore, the Horse Forum reserves the right to exercise its discretion to prohibit or allow advertising and website promotion. A lot of work goes into growing and maintaining the Horse Forum, so we require that people looking to promote websites link to the Horse Forum from the sites they promote. This way, sites receiving the benefit of the effort that goes into the Horse Forum community give something back. The Horse Forum Linking Policy 12- Do not ask for donations, hand outs, or money.
The Horseforum.com cannot verify the validity of any such request. For the sake of avoiding possible scams the use of links, re-directs, and discussions of is strictly against the rules.
If you need money offer something in return such as Artwork, Tack, or other various items for sale. Do not ask for free money. Posts asking for help in coming up with ideas to make quick money are permitted. 13 Do not ask for subscribers to your Youtube channels or votes in contests for yourself or others.
You may passively post a link to your blog or Youtube channel in your signature, provided you don’t receive payment for advertising on those sites. The link must be in normal size font, without actively inviting or calling out to "come join! We ask that members who do link to their blogs in their signature return the favor by adding a link to the Horse Forum to their blog. 14- Do not link to Facebook, other Forums or social network chat sites or online gaming sites
There are several reasons why links to these sites and especially Facebook are restricted at the Horse Forum.
First and foremost, there are many younger Internet users who don't realize or appreciate the potential danger and aggravation that sharing their real identity on a publicly accessible Internet forum can have. There are many adults who don't either, for that matter, until somebody who'd taken a particular interest in their posts, for whatever reason, follows their Facebook link and takes a less than desirable interest in their real identity.
Secondly, the Horse Forum is a social network. Other social networking sites are our competitors. As an example, Facebook has 1.56 billion monthly active users as of April 2019. MeWe, FB's up and coming competitor has this to say on their press page, "MeWe, the Next-Gen Social Network, built by Sgrouples Inc., is a mobile and desktop technological tour de force for 1:1 and group communication."
It's no secret that activity on many other Internet forums has declined since people began spending more and more of their time online at Facebook. We're not interested in seeing the Horse Forum suffer the same fate.
It is not in our best interest to give other sites any free advertising or publicity. To that end, anyone interested in discussing horses or anything else on other social media sites is of course free to do so, but we ask that members not post links to them here or make direct references suggesting that members go to other social media sites.
To clarify some other points:
We will still allow mention of social media sites provided that mention isn’t in the form of an invitation or a clear direction to go to their forum/discussion section.
We will not allow members who have any 'self interest' in a social media site to promote it here, either actively or passively.
We will allow links to information sites that have an ‘ask the professional’ facility but no public discussion forum. This would not extend to Facebook channels or other social sites that are similar in nature, as determined by the Admin and Moderating teams.
Members can copy and paste many articles directly to the forum. This saves members from having to follow links to other sites and preserves the articles here if those sites should ever disappear in the future.
that when copying and pasting articles to here, credit must be given to the author and the location of the original can be mentioned or a link to the article provided it doesn't break our 'no linking' rule. Members should be careful to check that the article doesn't have any restrictions placed on it that would prevent it from being reproduced here without the express permission of the author or owner of the article. 15- Posts cannot be removed, unless they violate the rules.
Removing your posts would ruin the threads they are a part of. For that reason, once you post, your posts become a part of the Horse Forum and will not be removed.
The only exception to this Rule are posts made in Journals. Please read the Journal Rules for further information 16- The Horse Forum is not for make believe.
While we're fond of daydreaming, and the discussion of possibilities, the horse forum is not a place for making things up and passing them off as the truth. If it becomes evident that a member has been making things up, and a determination is made that other members' time and energy has been wasted as a result, that member's access may be restricted. Similarly, if there is reason to believe that two members are the same person, one or both members may have their access restricted. That said, members are more than welcome to play games or engage in appropriate role playing in the Games forum when making the character of their posts explicit. 17 - No cyberbullying
This includes but is not limited to the tormenting, threatening, harassing, humiliating, embarrassing or otherwise targeting of any person of any age. Classification is subject to moderator interpretation.
You may respectfully disagree with another member's opinions on topics, beliefs, and training methods but you may not flame or belittle another user for having those different opinions.
If you have an issue with another user do not bring it to the public forums. If you feel that discussions with another member or members are becoming offensive and personal then please use the Report facility or start a Talk to the Team thread to contact the Moderators.
NOTE: The Forum's Private Message system is just as it says - private.
This does not give any member the right to use it to send inappropriate content of any sort to another member.
If you are reported by another member for inappropriate use of the PM system, the Moderating and Administrative Teams reserve the right to issue an immediate short term or permanent ban at their discretion.
The Moderators and Administrators accept that members often feel the need to let off steam to us via the PM system. On the whole the Teams are very tolerant of these outbursts, but members need to be aware that there is a line that must not be crossed. The penalty for crossing that line is a short term or permanent ban at their discretion. 18 - Discussions of HF Policy
Discussions of Moderator Decisions or The Horse Forum Rules/Policies in Open Forum is Prohibited, if you have concerns, Please start a Talk To Team Thread for your concerns. 19 - Membership Policy Accounts
Members are allowed only one account per person at the Horse Forum.
If you've made an account here in the past and then take a break you'll need to continue using that account when you come back. Please do not create a new account with the intention of having a new account here or you may lose access to the Horse Forum.
If you have forgotten your password and no longer have access to the email address you used when you originally registered so have created a new account to be able to log in again please use the Talk to the Team facility ASAP to get help recovering your existing account, we'll be glad to help! 20. FORUM CENSOR This Forum has a strict PG rating as it can be read by children of any age. For that reason, No cursing, profanity or swearing will be allowed. NOTE
: Typing around the censors constitutes swearing so is also against the Rules. This includes the use of symbols like *@$# etc to replace censored words, either entirely or inserted into the censored word. NOTE
: Using abbreviations for swear words is also not allowed NOTE
: There are acceptable uses for some censored words and occasionally the censor goes on overdrive and will pick out an inappropriate word that's part of an acceptable word.
If this happens in your post we will allow the use of some typing around the censor to get around it. The use of a "." is enough. 21. Sharing Accounts: (added 01/29/2018)
The Forum allows only one member per account.
We ask that members do not allow anyone else to share their account for the purpose of posting here.
If a parent opens an account for their child the account must be that child's own account. Parents must not post on their children's accounts and children must not post on their parent's accounts.
Please note - 13 years old is the minimum age to have an account here.
Violating this policy will result in disciplinary actions up to and including a permanent banning at the administrations discretion and decision. 22 - Age Restrictions
Members must be at least 13 years old to register. No exceptions.
Members under 15 (13 and 14 year olds) can start threads in any forum (except the Saloon), and can add replies to their own threads as often as they like, but cannot reply to other members' threads in certain forums.
The reasoning behind this rule is that the typical 13 or 14 year old lacks the experience to provide the types of substantive replies that members who start threads expect to receive and unfortunately they often lack the maturity to recognize as much.
In addition to being able to start a thread in any forum they want to and being able to reply in their own threads in those forums, members under 15 can reply to any thread in following forums:
Horse Stories and Poems
Meet the Community
Off Topic Discussion
Jokes and Funnies
Music, Movies, and TV
Using the horse forum
Suggestions 23 - Journals

Additionally, because of the unique nature of forum journals, the host has the right to request that a post they find disruptive or offensive be removed by the moderators. 24. If you do not have anything helpful to add to a post then please refrain from responding.
"Google it" is only permissible when the response offers suggested articles, websites, or helpful keywords or phrases to be used while googling. 26. Sidetracking and 'Hijacking' Threads (added 06/26/2018)
Please do not sidetrack threads in a way that takes the thread completely away from the original topic, especially if its done in an attempt to introduce a debate that is known to be contentious.
Please do not use someone else's thread to ask your own questions or to start a new discussion especially when it has nothing in common with the original topic.
Those posts and any responses to them will either be removed entirely or they will be moved to a new thread of their own at the discretion of the Moderating Team.
If you are unsure of how to start a new thread then you can ask for help by contacting one of the Moderating Team 27 Political Discussions
We ask that members please not

Threads or posts that resemble political discussions or have a strong potential to become political discussions will promptly be removed.
