So while on a completely non-horse-related trip this weekend, I went to the local Mystery Shop - part surplus, part fire sale, part fell off the back of a truck, part general beach and vacation tchotchkes, you know the sort. Anyhow, they had a couple pairs of what are apparently quite nice riding breeches - former police issue, made by Peter Jay Co. They look a lot like the ones the US Army Caisson riders wear - a medium to dark blue with gold braid. They were $15, so I grabbed one, and they fit great EXCEPT they're too small in the waist. Like by a couple inches, not a huge amount. So:
Can the waist be let out the same way one might for suit pants? There does seem to be some fabric available in the waistband. Or are there special considerations for all the extra reinforcements in the seat? Would you say this is something a regular tailor can handle?
(yes, I'm working on dropping some poundage, that aside)
(seriously, these are comfortable. they even fit my height. they're in good shape, too!)
