Question Curbside Carriage Parking

How close can a carriage be parked along a curb?

In the picture below is a carriage stop at a train station by the platform. Where should the carriage park in relation to the two benches and the sign?

Merry Christmas jonbailey!

Close enough to the curb so that the passengers can load from the sidewalk and not have to step down then step up. You don't want them so close the carriage will rub wheels or horse/s step up on the walkway. As for position if there are not multiple carriages there at any one time then in front of the sign is fine.

Or you could carry a step to place below the carriage doorway that allows passengers to load/deploy safely at any location...
That is what the carriages in NYC Central Park do...
The "rental" handsome cabs line up for their paying fares...the driver puts out and picks up the step and off they go.
...

The worst day is instantly better when shared with my horse.....

Happy Holidays, all horse people here!!

I readjusted my train world simulator so the the carriage now stops more dead center on the station sign. The hackney is an old-fashioned taxi-cab that is 2-horse-power.

One of the aspects of my virtual model railroading that's such a kick is the working horse-drawn wagons.
