AQHA Hunt Seat horses.

OK I need some info here as this is not the big thing for me. Out side of shooting HUS and Jumpers on more of an A circuit type deal not big into this.

So what I would like to know is what is the differnace between Hunt Seat and HUS. What is the difference in these in AQHA vs a more open type show?

What are the AQHA bloodlines you look for in Hunt Seat or even HUS horses? Any info would be great. Also links to videos web sites and pedigrees.

Thanks all.

AQHA style is the low head set and the very straight up and down rider with little to no rein contact. Upper level hunt is a little bit higher headset (no giraffes) with a slightly tipped forward ride. They tend to roll into almost a 2-point type of position.

My local favorite was Last Captive. He has the best mind (he's gelded now) but all of the babies I have ever seen out of him have been kind and willing.

For QH HUS, they want more of a long and low type of picture with very slow legs. In recent years, the canter is more sucked back than I like and is almost more of a lope for a big horse. The horse that won all the Jr stuff last year was Look N Hott
They want the same basic quality of movement in the Hunte Shows - long slow legs, but they are more ground covering, especially at the canter, and the head is usually a few inches higher/above the withers and at the canter they are show in 2 point.
Both styles are supossed to be shown with contact on the bit, in QH a lot of riders try to "fake it", but they are supossed to have light contact.

As far as blood lines go, the more traditional bloodlines for the modern HUS horse are Artful Move, Last Detail, Invitation Only, Luke at Me, Sky Blue Walker/Boy. There are a lot of sons of these guys that are making their marks now, but most of the big studs go back to them.
