Finding a trainer *sigh*

My parents think I might be able to get a trainer (maybe once a month, tops), but I'm having difficulty finding one that will want to come to our barn, and isn't crazy expensive. Any tips? I've tried searching 'michigan horse trainers' 'horse trainers in michigans', etc. I've found quite a few helpful sites, but either their links don't work, or the information isn't clear, or it's just Western trainers.

Are you looking for a dressage trainer? Hunters? Whatever discipline you're looking for, go to the website of its respective local show association. Look in the directory. If your area has a horse journal, pick it up at the tack shop. While you're there, ask the person behind the counter if they know of anyone. 907
And now, the men of the Second Armored Division with their famous close-order swanning about.

As a side not, it might also be challenging finding a trainer to come out that infrequent. It's a tough call whether or not you'll notice any improvement with an hour or so a month. Are you experiencing specific issues with your horse or your riding? It depends on your goals for you and your horse for the year, but if money is tight another option is getting a parent or friend to video your ride so you can evaluate any faults you may need to improve on. And youtube is a great source for online tutorials.

Thanks guys! Asking a tack shop actually sounds like a great idea. I understand that having only once a month training isn't going to be ideal, but I figure it's better than nothing. :P
