at my hunt, we have a great deal of eventers that hunt their horses. not an issue that I can see, except that the jumps on the hunt are not nearly as challenging as what the eventers are use too!

Great point and something that would probably have to be considered. We don't hunt till competitive season has wound down and then work it in around holidays. So we hunt maybe 3 or 4 times a year.

If I had an upper level eventer (like Strange said), I probably wouldn't hunt them just due to unnecessary risk of injury doing something that isn't lending toward the final goal. However, with a low level eventer, not only does it seem to boost confidence, it adds resale value if the horse has proven itself on the hunt field and XC.

thanks for ALL the input guys !!

i do plan to event gypsy at the upper levels [at least prelim, but i would really like to take her intermediate too] our hunting season her does overlap the eventing season, but i would probably not hunt her til the end of the season, when there are no events.
