I had tears in my eyes reading this. It breaks my heart for you and Jack. I'm so, so sorry. There will never be another Jack, but hopefully you and your mare can heal together.

It is so heart wrenching that something like has happened. It amazes and disgusts me that someone would do that to an animal...just makes no sense at all. I really hope whoever did this gets what's coming to them.

My condolences on your loss - I really hope your mare is able to trust people again. We know that he is not a 'silly animal' - our pets/animals mean so much to us!!

Sorry for your loss. I know how you feel. There are people out there who do horrible things. R.I.P. Jack

I am so sorry to read this. Poor Jack! How horrible to loose your dear friend this way. I pray he did not suffer.

Some horses were shot about 2 miles from where I used to rent a pasture. It took about 6 months, but the police did catch the perpetrator, thank God.

A year or afterward, I came out to find my horses manes and tails chopped. My horses were terrified and suspicious too. I moved the horses the very next day to a big boarding barn for their safety. It took me two hours to catch my mare and two months before she would come to me again.

I hope you can find a place to put your mare that is safer for her and you can rebuild her trust. Praying that the disgusting low life that hurt poor Jack is caught and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Then I hope some cowboys get ahold of the jerk.

Peace and hugs to you

How horribly disgusting! I'm so sorry about Jack getting killed, your poor mare losing a friend and the grief you're feeling. I hope they catch the person who did it and that they get more than a slap on the wrist.

What side of town did this happen. We used to live on the southeast side and our old neighbors still have horses. Thinking maybe I should call and warn them.

R.I.P. JC 5/19/85 - 12/9/14. You made my life better.

So, so sorry for this horrible thing. I will never understand how a person can be so evil and hope that even though there is rarely punishment in this world, they will pay for this in the other.

Sadly this is something that happens every couple of years in my rural area where horse's pastures run up against a road and the stable/house is some distance from it. They do it in the dead of the night and never get caught.

I feel your pain and am so sorry that this happened.

I don't know what to say.....

How terrible.....and how hard it must be to deal with the feelings you're having......

I'm so sorry....

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Horrible as this is for you, I think all of us here would appreciate an update if they ever find the killer. We must all put pressure on legislators that this kind of murder leads to human murder.
