Walking Cues

What are your flat walk/running walk cues? Most people have said to either cue as if you were cueing for a trot or cue as if you were cueing for an extended walk. Is one way better than the other, or does it not matter?

My horses are not gaited so my cue for a walk is a gentle squeeze with my calves, barely noticeable but the horse feels it and moves off. Sometimes if out riding and I stop for something just a slight lift of the reins is enough to cue a walk forward.

this doesn't happen overnight but regular consistent cueing results in this. at first if the horse doesn't respond, stronger cues are used, such as stronger leg or even voice to get the desired result, getting more and more subtle as they learn.

For a verbal cue on a gaited horse "pucka-pucka" otherwise a squeeze of the legs asking for change of gait, plus some sit back on their pockets, for some horse just a slight release of the reins

My cue to my horses for a running walk is to a "cluck" and my cue to canter is a "kiss" sound.
I'll also squeeze my legs a bit if I need to.

Well, This is what I do too, but "Pucka Pucka" is sort of the sound they make. I tell Chivas "pucka pucka" when I am happy
