He was indeed special, a true one-of-a-kind, never duplicated and probably never will happen again.
A shining copper coat, beautiful white socks and a playful nature...
Intelligence, poise and he knew he was special, he really knew...
From a baby to his death he lived up to his name of "Big-Red" for being all he was and then some more...
Secretariat was indeed one special, special animal.

@aubie , I'm guessing you've seen this, but figured I'd post it- Steve Haskin's photo collection of Secretariat. Really shows just how massive Secretariat was. I love everything Steve writes and this was no exception. Sometimes I feel like I was born in the wrong generation though- would have loved to have been alive during this time!

Thank you for posting. I agree he does such a good job, really hard to describe how good. I will look. To be honest I don't click on the sites as much anymore. I used to first thing every morning but just have not wanted to see bad news. I'm ready for full racing to return.

I never knew where it came from or that Steve took it.

There will never be another Secretariat.
His incredible, athletic ability was so magnificent that I'm still in awe anytime I watch his performances on his Triple Crown run. Makes me wish I was born a few decades earlier!
