An Apologetic Friday Night Conversation

Seems I skipped last week. No real reason. We were talking about thanksgiving, trees and everything and I guess it slipped my mind. Anyway happy Friday to you.

How are you? Hope it good where you are. Grinchy weather here.

Plans for tonight? This weekend?

What's for supper? If nothing chances I'm going to have country fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy.

How is your shopping going? What type are you ? Prepared or last minute?

I do have to go to Walmart today. Not Christmas shopping really although I already need some blinking bulb replacements. They don't long.

Whatever is on your mind. Any and all topics and anyone and everyone welcome.

Tonight...work Christmas party. Dinner at outback steakhouse. Slightly dreading it. I am so awkward with my work people.

Then working all weekend. I am a face painter so most weekends I am booked. Five more events for this year and then I will have a little break.

Normally I am a last minute shopper but this year I've been on top of it. I am done! I have found this to be rather tricky because now I have all this time left and keep wanting to buy more things... hmpf.

Happy Friday! :)

Tonight's plans - going to dinner with one of my good girl friends from college after work. Nothing major, probably just TGIFriday's. Haven't been there in awhile & it was always one of my favorites. They have good mixed drinks, too.
Tomorrow- riding in the morning (finally, the ground will be dry hopefully after all the rain this week!), cleaning, & relaxing. I'm also watching a REALLY good murder mystery & I can't wait to finish it! I love those kinds of shows.
Sunday- Might go to the movies with my mom, I wanna see Dark Waters. Then dinner at my parent's house as usual! Sunday ritual!

I haven't done any shopping yet. On Cyber Monday this week, I did get a few things for MYSELF that I needed (some boots, & I also got a new riding jacket since mine has absolutely had it lol). Other than that...nope. I know what I'm getting everyone already at least, it's just a matter of when haha. I haven't decorated either. My mom did say she bought me a nice wreath for my front door which was sweet. I'll probably put it up this weekend. I also plan on putting some lights up eventually. Not sure I wanna put the tree up this year...just feeling kinda lazy.

Ride more, worry less.

Wow I've already upgraded. Longhorn for me today.

Which is super ok. When I said country fried steak- that was me cutting into pieces from a larger cut. pounding it out, then cooking and of course the mess I make whenever flour is involved.

Weather should be really nice here this weekend. It's been in the 70's most of the week so I'm not complaining at all! Our local football team is in the playoffs so we'll be going to the game on Saturday just to offer support against another local team. Hopefully the weather stays nice for that. It's been years since I've been to a high school game (kids are grown now) so I'm looking forward to it.

We'll be going out to dinner tonight just don't know where yet. I'm leaving work a little early in order to get to the barn before dark (hate this time of year) and then DH and I will grab dinner on the way home somewhere. I do find it interesting that you call it "country fried steak" and around here we call it "chicken fried steak". I guess that's another of those regional names. Although I don't know if it's a north/south thing or something else?

Until last weekend I had not done any Christmas shopping. I'd love to be (and tell myself every year I will be) an early shopper, but it never seems to happen. We really only buy for the grandkids now, but with #8 due any day now, it's become a task just buying for all of them. And call it OCD, upbringing (my mom was the same way), or whatever, but I have this thing about everyone getting "equal" gifts. Not always in cost, but in number. I usually do two "outfits" and two toys per child. If they are siblings, and I happen to get one of them one more item than the other then I will put two things together in one box so they still have the same "number". It actually kind of drives me crazy because at this point I've done shopping on about 4 different websites and have tried to do so much at once I've lost count of who has been bought what. I think I need to do an inventory today of what I still need to get. And remind myself to give a gift to our UPS driver so that they don't hate us and just throw packages out as they drive past after next week.

Snow coming here tonight, so we'll cozy up at home. Went to the local brewery for dinner last night and brought home a growler of one of their new beers to enjoy this weekend. Tonight for dinner we'll probably do "breakfast for dinner" to go with the cozy theme.

I am still piecing together some Christmas gifts for friends and extended family, but that's fun!

You're forgiven for forgetting last Friday @aubie , we let you off because the Christmas thread was so good - and the Roast Beast title is going to give you enough brownie points for a long time!

What can I say? We have snow, its cold and its been miserably dull for a few days now. Dinner tonight? Probably something with fries
.
My life seems dreadfully boring compared to some of these posts!

So I'll leave it with
Thank you aubie and thanks to all the members who contribute to these Friday Night threads and all the other 'chat' threads.

Just winging it is not a plan

Still digging out from Monday's storm (20"). I got the creche out and set it up, it's something my daughter and I made together back when she was a small grade-schooler, when I had a kiln and was doing handbuilt stoneware. She's thirty next year. Some of her sheep look more like white-glazed dog poop, but they still make an appearance every year.

Tree still needs me to go cut it and drag it in, I think that will be tomorrow. Today I've got a headache that is flattening me.

My Christmas Big this year is throwing a party for horsey friends and acquaintances next weekend (not this one). It will be my first winter party in this house so that will be interesting.

We only do presents for our very-immediate family, which numbers four. No one is traveling out to the west coast to do the giant extended family thing. Which I always dreaded, but now I have 3000 miles of excuses ...

Happy Friday all!!! Work was soooo super busy and stressful this week so I'm glad it's Friday... will probably have to work some this weekend.

@aubie - mmmm Longhorn... like their big ribeye.

@WildestDandelion - that's a cool profession!

Not sure on dinner, probably leftover creamy roasted mushroom soup, then head over to some friends to chill and talk.

I hope to play with the young horse this weekend.... with work this week all I've been able to do is throw feed at them, look them over for anything and that's it. Tomorrow night I'm supposed to go to a Holiday gathering, I'm soooo socially inept that I don't want to go. I want to see the host as she's awesome but she's going to be super busy so I can't attach myself to her... ugh. Tis the season as there's another next weekend too.

I don't really do Christmas as I'm not close to any family(area wise)... but will enjoy it with a few friends.
