Silver Maple I am so sorry about the dog...

I am so excited!! Not because I have these awesome pork chops in the oven, but the man who is going to pick up my manure for the refugee garden CALLED!!! I thought he had decided not to get it!! Woot!! I am thrilled to have it go to good use! He is going to compost it with some wood chips he has.

I don't break horses, I FIX them!

Re-upped hunting and fishing licenses for the year earlier today after work as they expire Feb 28th each year here in Montana and tonight I will probably be reading. This weekend I might go ice fishing if it gets above 0F but right now they are calling for -15F to -30F which makes for miserable fishing. I may also have to take my oldest daughter to one of her classes if it ends up going on Saturday. Hopefully though this weekend will be a restful one with a lot of reading and maybe some working on my latest project in the shop.

I ended up finishing second and DL on the extra ticket. So I ended up paying three bucks to be nice to someone I don't even know.

Sometimes I get tired of say it could be worse.

Or maybe not I was 15 bucks down in a $20 head to head. That's a lot to overcome because the person in front has a huge advantage. I liked a horse at a price. He got home paying $32.00 to win $9.20 to show and $4.40 to place. For a total of $45.60.

And the guy I'm playing had the favorite finished out of the money and got squat.

@SilverMaple I'm so sorry about your dog, they never live long enough. I hope you have a lovely vacation and are calm knowing your mom will take care of everything.

@SilverMaple . sorry for the dog. Sad when that day comes.

Where are you going for vacation?

Snow here is melted now. Green grass. Daffodils almost ready to bloom. Tulips up a good 3 inches. Sun is out. Brisk and fresh. Couldn't be better!

@SilverMaple I'm so sorry about your dog. Safe travels and have fun on vacation!

No plans for the weekend. I need to make a trip to Sam's Club but that's not going to happen on a weekend. We had burgers, baked potatoes and slaw for supper. The dog has been out for his last potty break of the night so it's time to start winding down and think about going to bed.

We're headed to Estes Park, CO for a few days.

Here's a photo of my girl from Christmas. My Mother-in-law sent me a locket for a tuft of her fur, so I put that together to wear on our trip so my mountain-loving dog gets to go along in a way. The vet called this morning and her ashes are back. It will be good to get her home again.

Well so much for a restful day. I ended up shoveling snow out of the boats so they don't overload their trailers axle weight, washed and hung clothes to dry, rounded up all the trash from the kids and made a run to the dump, the other dog went with me because he likes truck rides where as my ACD hates riding in vehicles, checked out an ice fishing spot to see if the ice was thick enough, picked up mail, dropped some stuff off with the church secretary, got diesel for the truck and tractor, came home and my oldest daughter was here watching my youngest daughter and youngest wanted a popcorn snack so I got out the air popper and made popcorn, I put on four cups of pinto beans this morning to make my legendary bacon refried beans, they should be ready about 6:30pm tonight, got out the hose and ran water into the big stock tank for the horses and now I need to go feed horses for the evening and make up supplements and then go feed those as well. Have to do some books/accounting catch up and then when that is all done, I just might get a chance to sit down and read for a bit.

I have to sit by my one gelding when he eats his supplements for the night because he eats them soooooooooooo sloooooooooow and the other horses will run him off and steal his if I don't sit there with him. I figured while I was out there I would at least get a potato quality video on my ancient digital camera of the turkeys that drive my dogs nuts. We have a flock of at least 70 of them that runs around but there are always a handful of them that stay and browse around in the horse hay for seed heads on the crested wheat grass hay I feed.

The reason my dogs can't get them is I have the invisible underground fence for the dogs run around two of my pastures right along the base of the regular fence. That way I don't ever worry about my dog being a turd and chasing my hoses when I am not looking.

Anyway, while I get caught up on my accounting stuff you guys can enjoy some super wild and wary wild turkeys sneaking around my place, LOL!
