Crazy Dreams! AND Where do they come from?

I always have very memorable and crazy dreams, that is, when I do remember them. I very rarely have the nightmare type.

One dream that I had that I will never forget because it made me laugh and that's what woke me up.

I was at a shopping mall with a friend but there were no stores. It had two floors with an opening in the middle on the upper floor that looked down to the bottom floor. This whole mall was filled with sofa's of various kinds.

A cobalt blue velvet sofa caught my eye and I went over to take a closer look. I remember thinking that it wasn't something that I would probably own but cool none the less. So, I lay down on it to check it out and then these two guys came over to move it so I was going to get off of it. They told me to stay there and enjoy myself and they would just move it with me on it. I was thinking "Well ok, I'll just stay here then".

There were dogs milling around all over and laying around. One dog was laying in the way of the men's path and I joked "just kick it and it will move" They got really mad and scolded me telling me that they didn't treat their dogs that way. I apologized and told them that I was just joking and they were fine. They set the sofa down and a black lab looking dog came walking over to me while I was sitting on the sofa. He was wagging his tail and saying hello. Only this black lab wasn't black, he had cobalt blue velvet fur just to match the sofa. I realized then that all of the other dogs also had fur to match the various fabrics on all of the sofas. I thought "What a neat idea!" and started laughing so hard that I woke myself up.

I just had a dream the other day that my friend, who comes to take care of my dogs the day that I'm gone, texted a photo of my blue poodle Anza with white stuff all over her mouth and face. She told me that she chewed up the tube of toothpaste and my toothbrush. Where did that come from?

I've had a recurring dream for many years. I'm living in a house that is always the same and yet I've never been there in 'real life'.
My children are all young in the dream.
There's a part of the house that has a very bad feel to it and I usually can't go in there or if I do I run back out as fast as I can.

Shortly after my grandfather died my father and I both dreamt that we met up with him and a whole crowd of long dead family members in the house that belonged, at the time, to our village blacksmith/farrier. It was also where the blacksmiths forge was
Neither Dad nor I had ever been in that house in real life but since I've been researching family history I've discovered that one of my grt grt grandmother's brothers was once the village blacksmith and lived there

I had a dream that I was an animal. I was loping through very tall, golden grass. The land was flat and the sky was such a vivid blue. As I was running the grass was separating . I don't know what kind of animal that I was because I was seeing through the eyes of the animal. I'm thinking a large wild cat or wild dog. That was it. The cool thing about it was the overwhelming sense of peace that I woke up with. I just wanted to lay in bed forever and not let that feeling go.

Cut and paste from an old post:

Weird dreams department:
I'm generally blessed with deep, dreamless sleep. But when I dream, they're memorable.
I dreamed that I was still working on a military installation. The Army changed the entry and exit procedures to include asking questions about American history. They staffed the gates with historical reenactors, and consulted with me on some of the questions.
... Then, in an Orwellian twist, they required us all to have a constant internet connection. They didn't say why, but we figured it was for tracking and monitoring purposes.

I didn't have a constant connection and became an outcast. I ended up working for an outlaw travel agency in exotic locations without internet.

Another weird dream that I posted before, but can't find now:

The cops were chasing me. I don't know why. I pulled off on to a dirt road into a little barangay off the main road. I backed my truck into a little garage/barn type building and closed the doors to hide my truck.

While I sat down talking with the family who lived there, the cops saw my dust, and pulled in to look for me. They got out of their car and fanned out. I slipped out and took the ignition keys from their car and threw them into an irrigation canal.

I sped out of the little garage, and holed up on our ranch. I laid low, buying supplies up on the mountain, rather than down in the valley where we had been buying before.

My latest really weird, unexplainable dream was I sitting on beach talking to Major Charles Winchester III (from the TV show Mash) about how he shouldn't feel bad about being bald. Next thing I know Donald Trump walks up and asks if he can lay down and put his head in my lap. I told him sure so there I sit talking to Charles with Donald's head in my lap on a beach I didn't recognize as being any I'd ever seen before. WTH? LOL

Another recent one I was in a bank standing at the teller's window when someone came up behind me and grabbed the waistband of my jeans and started pulling on it like they were trying to give me wedgie. Turned around and it was an old boyfriend and I caught myself leaning towards him and just breathing in. Then in the dream I started shaking my head like I was trying to shake it off and woke myself up banging my head against the pillow.

I seriously don't know where I come up with this crap that I dream either @LoriF but at least I'm not alone in having offbeat dreams! LOL

Who knows where this stuff comes from. Is it little bits and pieces of information that gets into our brains, gets scrambled, re organized, and then thrown out? Or maybe we leave our bodies and go on adventures when we sleep.

I've had little blips of dreams that didn't last that long. One time I dreamed that there was three or four people gathered talking about something that I couldn't hear. I knew that they were consulting with each other and were going to tell me something and I was waiting on them. They were standing among this mist and their bodies were part of this mist. I could only see their shoulders and heads but not their faces.

And then I woke up. Pfft

Other times I've dreamed whole segments of a movie except things always seem to be really off.

Fascinating reading!

The weirdest dream I ever had was when I was 16. I dreamt I was riding my mare from my parents' farm to a regional centre 60km away, which could actually be done by continuing along the state forest tracks we used to roam, except for some reason the Swiss Alps suddenly and paradoxically appeared between the forest and the town. So we had this really pretty ride, like The Sound of Music. When we got to the town, we found that U2 were doing an afternoon gig there, and on investigating I found they were, ridiculously, playing at a pre-school! A little girl came out and asked if she could hold my horse while I went in. There was a stage inside and they were sort of doing an acoustic set, mostly to pre-schoolers, and I remember thinking, "All this political talk between songs is really inappropriate for this audience!" And then suddenly I found I was sitting on a toilet that had appeared mysteriously in the middle of the hall floor, and there was no cubicle around me, a most disagreeable scenario. Then I woke up.

Hahaha, I still remember that one vividly even though it was over 30 years ago!

My husband often dreams things that could totally be sold to movie makers for inspiration, and that heavily feature aliens. Have any of you ever considered writing your dreams down and contacting Hollywood? Might improve the movie industry!

Quoted from Jaydee
[quoteI've had a recurring dream for many years. I'm living in a house that is always the same and yet I've never been there in 'real life'.

I also have a recurring dream about a house, I think it is in New England, at least it looks like that area, where I meet people I know.

I read once that if you do actually find the house and area where you have been dreaming about, and talk to the locals there, they will recognize you as a ghost that roams the area. Interesting idea.

I actually have made into novels about three of the dreams I have had. It took me about 6 months to dream the stories. When I'd go to sleep, I'd think about what happened in the story the night before, and then I'd dream the next segment. The books have a sort of dreamlike quality to them, but I mostly edited the weird dream type stuff out and just left the story. I discovered that as soon as I started writing down the story, I never dreamed about it again.

Someday maybe I'll be brave enough to put one of them on Horse Forum on "Horse Stories and Poems".
