Going to Croatia!

My dad was born in Croatia a long time ago. He and his family owned land there, a lot of it across from a very beautiful beach. He left his portion to me and now I am going there in a couple of days to sell some of it. I am staying with my cousin in Kostrena, and I also get to see the house where my dad was born! Has anybody been there before?

I am not here to promote anythingNo, that's not true, I am here to promote everything equestrian and everyone enjoying horses!

I have not, but a friend in Montana is from Croatia and it's beautiful! You probably know that. I didn't.

Have fun! Good luck in your business dealings.

WAAAAAY back, when Croatia was part of Yugoslavie . . back in 1987, my husband and I rented a car in Macedonia. In Skopje, to be exact. We took 10 days to drive around the countryside, ending in Slovenia (Lubljiana), where we caughtt a train to Germany.
We spent several days on the Dalmation Coast; Sveti Stephan, Split, Dubrovnik, and some others I don't remember. It is beautiful. When we were there, they people were poor, and under the stress of a hard life. I think their lives have improved greatly now.

Be sure you say "Dubrovnik', with the accent on the "Du", not on the "bro".

best of luck! post photos!

I can tell you more about that trip if you want, but it was a long time back, and not all in Croatia.

I am actually flying into Venice, and my cousins are picking me up because it's only like an hour and a half away from Kostrena. I have seen photos of my cousin's "house", it actually looks like a beachside resort. And it is only 2 miles away from a very beautiful beach that they sent me pictures of, the white sand & the blue ocean. But of course the main reason to go there, is to sign papers to sell some of my property, and come back with a sizeable amount of euros, lol. I always knew about the property but I didn't think it was worth much, what a surprise 5 years ago when I seen how much it was worth, I would be quite wealthy if I was the only owner of the property but I share it with a few others. We're just selling off an orchard, the house and the majority of the land is not for sale, so I am hoping the rest of my relatives buy me out, sounds like that's what they want to do. Yes I will take a lot of pictures.

right now 1.0 euro is = to $1.1660 USD. But you would want to check on the current exchange rate before deciding on weather to exchange euro's for dollars.

That's actually becoming a very desirable place to be.....you might want to hold on to it for awhile....

I am in Canada, our dollar is so low, any other money is like double ours, lol. I really don't want to hang on to any land, they don't really want to sell the main part anyways, and although it is where my dad was born it really means nothing to me, so it is not for investment purposes. We have just sold off an orchard, I believe the rest of the family is putting the money into renovating the house, not me! I will offer them a good deal to buy me out.

Have fun! See if there are any places to ride nearby... I will never forget my 7 hour ride near Rome. You might get a chance to see incredible scenery!
