Ground Hog Day

So today is Feb. 2 nd. It is Ground hog Day here in the U.S. They pull this hibernating woodchuck out of his slumber before day light and with all the tv camera lights and flashbulbs going off. Decide whether or not this ground hog has seen his shadow . If he does it is 6 more weeks of winter weather If he does not see his shadow spring is just around the corner. LOL He Did Not See his Shadow this morning or so the handlers say. if he does see his shadow he is to supposedly run back down his burrow and hibernate for another 6 weeks.

So if you believe a rodent can predict weather we can put away the snow shovels, warm clothes, shut down the wood burners and get the sun screen ready to get that all over tan.

Actually if you think about it the ground hog has a 50/50 chance of getting it right.

I say dress the woodchuck out put it in a pan add potatoes and carrots and celery and bake for a few hours. Will be a good hot dinner while you look out the window and watch the record snow falling that the weather persons said was going to be sunshine.

I am concerned for the security of our great Nation; not so much because of any threat from without, but because of the insidious forces working from within. Douglas MacArthur

We are on such a rollercoaster this year......who knows!?? We may skip Spring altogether. I have been wanting to tap my maple trees, but I donít have space to store all the sap until I need to cook it. Some years, I can leave it frozen on the porch. Not this year.....(it has to be treated like milk...)

I don't break horses, I FIX them!

I just read a deal about the ground hog is Usaully wrong, in his prediction of how long winter will be. February is going to be a rollercoaster of temperature swings & snow storms according to weather man.

Polar vortex will once again invade Minnesota late next week. Spring must be coming my horse's are shedding their winter coats.

I'm a believer that if he sees his shadow 6 wks of winter left, if does not see his shadow only 1 1/2 months of winter left. I have never been wrong yet.

Greentree, we missed autumn so wouldn't doubt that we could miss spring.

A couple of days ago we had - 14 F and now it's up to +28 F practically balmy. At least the water won't freeze in the barn.

One of our clients read the farmers almanac and said February and March will be brutal. I am currently looking into other states with milder winter temps and NO humidity in the summer. I feel like a traitor to my Maine heritage...

Very simple: live in the South over the winter and go back to Maine in late spring, when the humidity creeps up in the South and come back south when winter knocks on the door
