First my apologies for missing the Canadian one. It was Tuesday?

How are you? What is happening in your world?

Big plans this weekend? Or a little less this year?

What's on the menu? Anyone cooking out?

Anyone going to fireworks? Or are they cancelled in your area this year? Or not your thing?

What about at home? Anyone hit the fireworks stands that pop up? My grocery store even has a section every year. Or wish neighbors wouldn't hit them so hard? Who has been hearing them all week?

Is this a pain for you and your horses/ pets?

And whatever not related things that are on your mind. Please post them as well.

No fireworks here....nearest place doing them is an hour or two away. We've never bought any or really plan on as far as I know. We ordered HomeChef last week, got delivered Wednesday. We ordered three meals.....ate one a few days ago, tomorrow we'll eat Goat Cheese and Crispy Onion-Crusted Steak with grilled Parmesan Asparagus. So far we're super impressed with how the meals are packaged, and how they are! Its insanely convenient! If anyone wants more info on it let me know! We're thrilled with it so far!

As most of y'all know, or barn cat went missing a few weeks or maybe a month or two back. Ive been looking for a few online and finally found some ready to go, so looking forward to that as mice have been horrible here this year! So we go and pick up the new barn kitties Wednesday morning, already have a call in at the vet to get them fixed and vaccines. I was going to go the shelter route, as there is one a few hours away I was approved at but they dont have any barn/outdoor cats available at the moment so.

I bought Rodeo and Bella lycra flymasks about a week ago, Bella got hers off 5-6hrs after I put it on, and Rodeo never got his off so happy about that, they are rubbing and trying to get them off though as there are tears in the mesh over their eyes already.....oh well, I have noticed it has greatly reduced Rodeo's head shaking when he has it on though!

I take Bella to the repro vet this Friday (next week) for another ultrasound, Im so hoping she will continue to be pregnant this go around! If not, Ill have to wait to rebreed til next year as Im not sure I can finally pull off three AI's in one year so fingers crossed for that!

Other than that things are good here, rain a few days finally caught us back up to average rainfall for the year, I was worried about fire season so glad it rained some! Back to sun and high 80s, low 90s the rest of the week though!

Hope everyone has a good weekend and Happy 4th of July!

Hello:). Glad to see your usual Friday thread. I’ve been logged out but readl8ng along and was starting to worry:)

No fireworks or anything in my county as this little rural place is really on the Covid19 upswing.

I imagine my neighbors to west won’t let me down and will shoot off enough rounds of rapid fire ammunition for us to pay to get both big trucks very nice paint jobs, lol

They are at least respectful enough to stop shooting by midnight but I set the timers on the big barrel fans to shut of at 1:00 AM, just in case:)

Other than this post, I’m taking a break from the forum for - who - knows - how - long —-. I’ve reached a point in life where all the stupid I read about is really starting to tee me off, so it’s better that I just log off and keep my thoughts to myself.

Hugs to you, dear @aubie , and to all of those of like mind but have ten times the patience that I have:). Hopefully all’y’all will know who you are:)

Happy to see this thread. Thanks, aubie.

We don't go watch fireworks unless we just climb a hill on a friend's place a mile or so away. I've no desire to get into traffic or crowds. I wouldn't be surprised, though, if, as the grandkids get older, they don't talk me into going into the whole mess. They're pretty good at talking me into things. :)

Riding tonight after it cools. Tomorrow I start a trip. It's work-related, been planned a long time, and can't be changed. Oh well.

Have a fun, safe weekend whatever y'all are doing.

ETA: Fireworks don't bother my animals. I lease pasture on a ranch with a gravel pit (dynamite) and a hunting club (shotguns). We're be in rough shape if loud noises bothered us.

Going over to youngest sons for cookout and fireworks since he bought some to put off. There is a place that manufactures and sells them not to far from here.

@aubie glad you started another Friday night thread too.

@walkinthewalk you will be missed. And don't be shy about coming back every so often and bringing us up to date on your fur babies.. I will say this though the longer you don't post the harder it is to start again. BTDT.

So you take care and keep safe and if you do something bad you got your husband to blame it on. LOL....

Evenin All.Busy day at work and I’m tired tonight. Gonna be long (12 hours) and who knows how busy. I know what I have at the moment but tomorrow...

All fireworks have been cancelled in my area. I have seldom gone cuz I’ve always been at work. No plans. I’ll have Sunday off and back to work on Monday.

The 2 Corgis don’t like any loud noises. The rest of the critters don’t care.

csimkunas6 (how do I do the @ thing) we could use some rain in my area.

Walkinthewalk that is why I left FB. Hope ya don’t stay away to long.

Boots wish the humidity would drop here then it wouldn’t be so hot. I’ve not ridden in a minute.

Howdy Regal!

We went to the lake for four days with our oldest daughter and her family. There will be fireworks tonight but, I'll stay at the house with the dogs to keep them calm. Usually works out good except for the aerial bombs. Then they hide in the bedroom closet.
For supper we had taco salads and it was great. I was glad that was so easy as we had a busy day. This morning I went to check on the dock and it had broke loose including breaking a cable loose from a deadman in the lake. We'll have to have a diver come out to reattach the cable. Tomorrow will be great we are going to have a fish fry. I'll cook them in the fish cooker and they are always the best! May even deep fry some bacon, it is great!

Long busy and frustrating week here. Started the morning at 3am with a fraud alert on my bank card so that was fun. Set up a bad mood for the day and things at work are tense and stressful. Oh well. I'll survive.

No plans really. All of us are still keeping away from each other because of our various risks of exposure to Covid. Probably dig out my DVD of Independence Day and watch it tomorrow. One of my all time favorites!

Depending on the weather, might take the dogs for a hike down to the creek. If it's too hot for that I may just leave the dogs in the yard and do some target practice at the tank.

Food will be whatever I feel like eating. I've been feeling really down this week and haven't had much appetite to speak of.

Hard to believe that the year is already half over.

I've been spending the last few days tackling this house. Getting to work on the dining room. I've really been procrastinating with it for a while because I knew what I was getting into as it was the same with the living room. When I bought this house one of the things (there were many) that I didn't know was there was a fire in it in the early 70's. The living room, front bedroom and dining room walls were covered in paneling 'EEwwww'. Dining room is being torn apart, uncovering it and redoing it to my liking.

I'm taking a small break tomorrow to celebrate Independence day with my friends at the farm. No fireworks anywhere around here. I live a couple of blocks from the river and usually just sit on my front porch to watch but it's a no go this year.

Pics of the start and I'm hoping to at least have it mostly finished before I have to go back to work. Wish me luck. Eventually everything is going to be a pretty white called Cotton Balls with black trim.

Oh, and those dangling lights are going too.

Happy 4th everyone!

We have no special plans for the weekend. A small town in our county usually has a big bash for the holiday but they are downscaling it this year to only a parade, crowning whatever kids win the prince/princess competition and I think that's it. They usually have vendors, rides, bands, etc... and culminate it all with fireworks.

I think I'll dig through the freezer and see if I can't find a couple of steaks to grill. I've been hungry for one. Tonight I made tuna salad (YUCK!!!!) for the hubs and chicken salad for me and then some queso dip with tortilla chips. I also made some cherry jello with peaches in it for dessert but it's still not set up. It's been so hot outside that we haven't really wanted hot meals this week.

Still feeling like our life is in the hold pattern and sticking close to home. I think one of my sisters wasn't too happy that we didn't come to her granddaughters graduation party but that was going to be too many unknown people for our comfort level right now.
@walkinthewalk, it's knowledgeable people like you that the forum can't afford to lose so I hope a short vacation will have you ready to come back. I'll miss you while you're gone!

Happy Independence Day to all across the pond.

Late to the party as usual!

The good news is I HAVE A WORKING SHOWER!

Bathroom is not totally finished yet, some work to be done on the walls before painting and still waiting on the window to be manufactured but the tiling is done and finished. Towel rail and shelves will be fitted after it is painted.

Decided that I will continue with the rest of the alterations to changing my bedroom to the living room which means knocking out a partition wall, thus removing the narrow hallway which makes getting any furniture in nigh impossible.

As for weather, seems like we have had our summer - it has been very windy with some much needed rain.

I dislike fireworks unless they are in an organised display, way to many accidents with them.

My dogs are not allowed to be worried about them, if they are then I take them outside, on a leash and make them watch! When I first got my Pointer he was terrified of brass bands. Hereally did freak when he heard them. Stopped him by following the band as they marched around the town. He soon stopped and now knows that if he is frightened of something then he has to face the fear with me.

Nasty mother I am!

Decided to skip the 4th of July parade this year. I have ridden a horse in it for years. The small town near me is loaded with corona virus. My rural county with a low population has 561 cases and 21 deaths. Good reason to skip the parade. My health is great, but vulnerable family. Trying to lay low and pray a lot. @walkinthewalk, please don't stay gone too long.

Official fireworks are cancelled, and purchase/sale of fireworks is not legal in my state. This doesn't stop folks from crossing into CT or NH to buy them, of course. Someone lit off a bunch in my neighborhood last night, but I have earplugs so it wasn't bad. Working today and hoping no one does anything foolish and blows a hand off before my shift is done. Either way, holiday pay.

The gym opens again next week, which I have mixed feelings about. Gyms are kinda icky no matter what. No showers, no steam/sauna, no group exercise, social distancing, masks and temps required for entry. Bracing myself for a barrage of complaints...

Academics are going well. Due to schedules, my completion date is more like end of summer 2021, vs Spring, but I'm on track. I even got a B in stats, which was a valiant effort and I'm pleased.

My birthday is Monday, and usually my dad & I go to Legal Sea Foods or somewhere, but that may not be a thing. We'll see. I'm definitely heading out to the barn and going on a nice long ride with Jasper.

Ended up having some old friends come down and spend the afternoon. And got to see some fireworks after all since a neighbor across the road is setting off some pretty good ones. If it wasn't so dang humid out I'd still be watching them but I'd just got done taking a shower and didn't want to have to take another so I came back in when I started getting sweaty. The horses aren't bothered by them, at least I didn't hear them raising any fuss. In fact they are being rather quiet so they are probably watching them too.

I’m a member of a rodeo drill team near Houston and Mesquite Championship Rodeo near Dallas, Texas wanted to have a large American flag presentation for their 4th of July rodeo. They had hoped to have 50 riders (to represent the 50 states) but due to current conditions, they ended up having 29 riders, consisting of several different rodeo drill teams, including one gal who made the trip from Arkansas! So I was horseback for July 4 [emoji4]. My team actually shoots fireworks from horseback so our horses aren’t bothered by them. My dogs are a different story, however.

I'm late, but better late than never!

I did see some fireworks from my house in the distance, all different directions which was pretty entertaining. Especially since around here, all fireworks displays were cancelled because of the Covid.

Moved the horses this weekend to a new private barn & it went smoothly (my old BO was selling the property, so I wanted to get out quick!). Yesterday, went swimming at my parent's pool & enjoyed some BBQ.

Aaaand Monday is here...too soon!

Yep @PoptartShop better late than never! Sounds like you got a nice new place for your horse!! Yay!
@JCnGrace - on the horses watching the fireworks... I bet they were!

Whew... I'm pooped! Need to catch up on rest.... Went to Big South Fork, TN. It was soooo fun, no fireworks though did hear some going off in the distance. Rode a lot this past weekend and ate too much! Good food though so it was hard to say no! lol Traffic was a bear driving back yesterday though, if I do that again I'll stay an extra day...

All horses are good, boy summer is hear in it's full glory! It's warm no wait HOT! lol Thinking about getting a small personal pool just not sure... I hemmed and hawed last year on this same thing, it's sooo hot working outside I'd like something to jump into before coming in.

Later than you.

I miss sitting on the roof with a packed basket watching the fireworks when I lived in Tx. We were close enough to city park I think we had the best view.

My oldie who has never spooked at fire works or gunfire is now spooking pretty bad. I tried putting her up in the small pen with the guest and her sister but that was almost a disaster so back out she went, hollering and galloping around like her tail was on fire. Even tried to come through the gate.

Steaks and shrimp on the grill. Roasted vegetables and called it dinner.

No big productions around except for the drive in concert earlier which was an epic fail traffic wise and the producers didn't know what they were doing with estimating the number. Sold 500 spots but could only get 300 in.
