Yep.....I’m home in GA now and I’m just like “I miss Montana!” It’s SO beautiful and remote where I was at and I thought a month would go slow, but it wasn’t near long enough!
I’m seriously wishing that college wouldn’t take so long and I could just live out there for a while.
I didn’t go expecting to like the two hours away from a large town and over half an hour from a small store, but it was awesome and the peace and quiet was amazing!
Deer and turkeys just chilling out by the house every day...just gorgeous!
I took a lot of pictures, and I kinda wanna share cause I’m just used to the flat south and I’m kinda still in awe of the beauty lol
Sister lives out there! Had a baby and wanted help. It was awesome, but I’d LOVE to go and not spend 99% of the time being a nanny and house keeper lol
Some of us never get over how the northern Rocky Mtn states make us feel and end up living here. Sounds like you may be one of those. <img style="max-width:100%;" src="http://www.horseforum.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
College is good, though. Maybe your memories and dreams will help you through. We'll save some room for ya 😉
Yes! It was just amazing! No allergies and I just felt good! Back home I’m already sneezing because of the pollen.
And yeah! I’d imagine there’d still be room for me in four years!
GORGEOUS pictures. I miss Montana and South Dakota. Never thought I'd say that. Isn't it odd, how the sky, even with no clouds in it, seems to lay so close to you?

I thought that is where that was. The walk bridge looks like Kootenai falls and the span bridge looks like the one that runs over lake Koocanusa, which to hit those two you usually have to be living either up by Eureka or down by Libby so you can access hwy 37. Did you by any chance meet a couple named Jennifer and Wes while you were there? Eureka is a pretty small place so chances are good you may have bumped into them.
Ha! You should come up, visit <img style="max-width:100%;" src="http://www.horseforum.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
Ya! I wanted to cause I was like 2 miles from the border at one point! Apparently you get in trouble if you cross the barb wire fence though lol. Next time I go we can meet and talk over the border LOL
I lived in Missoula until I was 9. Winter lasts a long time, summer not so much. You should visit in winter and spend long enough to see how hard it is to get around before committing. We still live in a Rocky Mountain state, but at 2500 feet which is half the altitude of Denver. I enjoy my horses a lot more when I don't have to shovel snow to get to them! Still love Montana (and Wyoming too) but if I ever moved back I would look for an altitude similar to where we are now, where it mostly rains in the valleys when it is snowing in the mountains.
Oh yes, my sister has said how rough the winter is, but she liked it before she had wild kids that wanna go outside freezing weather lol Which, kinda does bother me since I am a outdoorsy type person, but, I’m sure I could still find something to do.
I got the pleasure of visiting Montana over March and I am also waiting to go back and hopefully settle down there for a while. The mountains, the wildlife, the communities...what's not to love?
Beautiful photos! I was up there in 2005 for the Lewis and Clark bicentennial commemorations. We paddled and cordelled dugout canoes through the Gates of the Mountains. I stayed with the expedition up to the Three Forks of the Missouri.
I also fell in love with the place. I second the suggestion that you spend a winter or two with your sister or on your own before committing to staying there.
