Looks grey and gloomy out and it feels grey and gloomy out!
Leaves blowing into the barn faster than I can sweep them out
Feels chilly
Fast growing puppy chewed her bed up yesterday, so much for not being destructive, knew I spoke too soon
Latest audible book won’t download, iPad seems to have lost its mind
Need comfort food!

Just winging it is not a plan

Yeah!!!! So happy to see this. Friday night football here as well as Thursday since the two nephews moved in. Band and football. Now all we need is cooler weather. For us though it looks like it wont get here until the season is over.

YAY! @aubie is back with his Friday night threads!

Busy summer. It was also hot and dry so our trees aren't getting color either.

Not a fan of Popeye's chicken. They've been springing up everywhere around here so when they opened one in town we decided to give it a go anyway since it had been years ago that I crossed them off as a place I wanted to eat. They went right back on the cross off list. LOL While I love fried chicken I'm not big on chicken sandwiches so I never order them. Will sometimes make my own with leftover chicken that I fried and those I like.

Hubby wanted a fish sandwich & fries for supper and I don't do fish so I had some popcorn chicken with my fries. Hubby also had stewed tomatoes and I don't like those either. Regardless of how that sounds I'm not really a picky eater it's just that he likes a few things that I can't stand in any form while there are lots of things that I like that he doesn't. LOL

I think this is the first weekend in quite a spell where there is nothing planned and I'm glad for the break. Sunday evening will be parked in front of the TV watching bull riding. They are on the home stretch to the finals which will be the first part of next month.

For those unfamiliar, anything is welcome. The first post just kicks it off.

How was everyone's summer? It was hot here especially September. No rain so no fall color in the trees here really. Just brown and falling off. How is it where you are? I think some of you already in full blown winter.

Usually there are some kick off questions. Mostly random nonsense. Like has anyone had a York Peppermint Patty lately? I remember the commercials where they said it takes them to cold places and whatnot. Had a I guess Halloween size the other day. Something has changed. No cool or anything just a mouthful of meh.

What is for supper usually is included. For me fried chicken fingers. You?

Speaking of did anyone get the Popeyes chicken sandwich before they ran out? Thoughts?

What is your favorite chicken sandwich?

Aubie tip of the week. If you see it in stores in your area, Stubbs chicken marinade is delicious. Especially on the grill.

What is going on with you?/Plans for weekend?

That should get started. Fire away.
I stopped eating chicken a few years back --- can't say why,mix pet that, for some reason, it now tastes terrible to me. Doesn't matter if it was grilled at home, Zaxby's grilled it, or someone else --- it just doesn't taste good anymore.

One of our big employers is a Tyson Chicken processing plant. They made the local news for some health issues inside the plant --- that probably didn't help my cause, lol

No special weekend plans. However I DO have a piece of weather trivia:

The local weather gal commented we have felt like August clear thru a few days ago (we are in October).

Last night the Accu Weather person commented many of us in the SE are going to feel "---more like mid-November---", starting tonight.

From a weather point of view, September and October have disappeared, in my area. The only reason I know I experienced these two months, is by all the things I have written down on my big block calendar for September & October.

Yes, I have a SmartPhone, albeit an old one. I do not trust anything but the shopping list do it, so I still use big block calendars to keep track of events. It's a lot more interesting, going back they and reading at the end of the year, lol

I'm ready for a few days of grey and blustery, lollol. We have showered the sweat off the horses every night for almost two weeks. I'm wore out, lol

Wait 'till your pup chews up every dog bed, chews the cable for DirecTV, and you find claw marks on both watermelons on the kitchen counter, that she could not pull down while you were at the barn doing chores, lollol

She is a big girl and a real food monger. Look at her eyeballing the coffee cup on the 4-wheeler. I will say, being so food driven makes her smart self very easy to train, lol.

I am that way with ground meat. If it is not freshly ground in store then the smell about makes me sick so no eating it. I guess the pink slime. Add that to the gases they use to keep them "fresh" looking and even if I can handle the initial cook on that the left overs taste off.

We've been promised a cool front since September. We got two days at the beginning of that month that were supposed to herald in fall. Nope. Went right back to 95+ days. I can handle that. Not pleasant this late in the year but it is the hot nights that bother me. I hate, hate, hate getting up at 4.30 or so to take the dogs out and the heat slams you in the face when you open the door. Ease me into it please... Give me a break, please... Now every cold front that has been shown to be "arriving soon" is a fail. The humidity has dropped to lows we never see and that helps but geesh.

Chicken - I like the fried skin more than anything else. Best part if crispy and lightly spiced. Guess that comes from eating fresh fried pork skins in the fall.

It's now partly cloudy rather than gray gloom, and it stopped raining/snowing but it's still chilly and windy. We've had a weird weather year all around--- spring was very late coming (we got snow in May), the summer was very wet, and everything is still green and lush.... including the crops in the fields which should be drying off for harvesting by now, but nobody could get in the fields anyway as it won't stop raining so its too muddy for the machinery. The farmers are approaching panic level 10 around here, and rightfully so. The crops got in late this spring, so will come out late, but it won't stop raining, it's getting cold, and if it stays wet and chilly, they'll rot in the fields. Throw in a very poor hay year (too wet to bale) and the one thing going for producers was that the pastures were still holding out green and fattening for cattle so they didn't need to be fed as much hay. The freeze will stop that. It got down to 24 last night, even colder wind chill, so my flowers and garden are droopy and dead this morning. I picked the green peppers and tomatoes that I could the other day, so that will be the last of those. We were able to put up so little hay that we cross-fenced the big pasture and will graze that down as much as we can before we have to start feeding hay to the horses. There's enough grass out there that I think they may get another month or two of feed off of it carefully grazing it for a couple of hours 2-3 times per day, assuming it doesn't get buried in snow. Everyone has foxtails in their pastures this year-- they thrive in wet weather, but the horses aren't eating them, so I'm hoping for the best. Not much we can do about it. The hay we put up is foxtail free, as is the stuff I bought, so at least they won't have it in their hay.

I make and sell handmade soaps, so I have a big order of those I need to get out today, and I need to place an order for supplies and get a few batches made, but I'm coming down with a cold or sinus whatever and I'm just exhausted, didn't sleep well, am nursing a sinus headache, and feel like doing nothing today but curling up on the couch with a mug of tea and a book. I'll have to push myself to at least get the order boxed and packed so it can be shipped first thing Monday morning, go move horses in an hour or two, and get supper in the crockpot.

My husband requested chili for supper tonight, so I have hamburger thawing for that. He's helping the high school band teacher with a band competition today (brrr!) and will bring home lunch from the fabulous Chinese restaurant in that town. As for chicken, I usually like it well enough, but the one time I went to Popeyes, my chicken tender was raw in the middle and I spent three days home with food poisoning, so never again. My stomach roils even driving past one. No thanks.

Boiled chicken now makes me gag.

I was just curious about Popeyes as it blew up so much. Chicken sandwiches on eBay smh.

It's been so dry here crops and hay played out early. Like zero rain in September.

It's leftover night. I am enjoying the 80s and slow dip toward the 70s. Weatherman swears it'll continue dropping and slide on into the 60s by morning. So instead of a quick hour at the barn DC and I took our time. Enjoyed spending it together and took time to just be with the horses. Everyone got extra attention.

Now that I think I can truly see the light at the end of the tunnel I am finding myself doing everything I can to avoid spending time in the tunnel.
