Rainbow season

Sort of a companion piece to the Sunrise - Sunset thread. The rainy season has arrived to our place in the Philippines. In some areas, that means that it simply rains most of the time. In our area, it means a good shower or thunderstorm nearly every afternoon, and the occasional all day / all night monsoon rain. The afternoon showers typically end before sunset, making for near perfect rainbow conditions.

The first one of this season was rather faint. But it was a double bow, arcing up and down the Cagayan Valley. The second one was also a double, with one faint bow over a more distinct one. As seen from our access road, it seemed to originate at the planned site for the goodewyfe's dream house, and arc out into the valley.

The goodewyfe took this shot of our livestock grazing at "the end of the rainbow"

I like the goodwye’s photo. Looking at it, a few of questions occurred to me, if you wouldn’t mind answering:

Is your land fenced around your boundary lines giving the livestock free run of the property or do they have a designated pasture area?

At some point will the bovines be consumed?

What is the water source for the livestock?

Thanks! We have a perimeter fence completely around our property. But there is an interior fence that divides the pasture from the orchards and vegetable plots. The stock has free run of the pasture.

Our cattle are a breeding pair. The plan is to sell off the male offspring, and keep the females. The bull will be changed for another from time to time to reduce inbreeding.

At present, we do not have storage space for that much meat, so culling the herd will have to be by sales.

Water source for the stock is a stream at the bottom of the hill they are grazing on in the photo. It dries up during the dry season, but the springs that feed it retain water year round. We dug out a ''pond'', more of a water hole, at one of the springs. That one is their preferred drinking spot.
