Reading and Viewing recommendations to forestall cabin fever

Let's post here our reading and viewing recommendations.
please do it in a bit of an orderly manner, such as

1. Book: "name of book", brief description of genre and why it's great. If it's an audio book, make note of that too.

2. Video: "name of movie/series". Where did you stream this from? (assuming it is streamable), or is this from cable/broadcast openly available.

So, here's mine:

1. Book: "Educated" listened to on Audible. true story of girl growing up in isolated, extreme self-reliant family, who must create her own education. goes from one crazy, unbeleivable thing to another.

2, video: "Tiger King" streaming on Netflix, I think. about the wierd people who keep big cats. Also about crazy, unbelievable things. ( says something about my state of mind).

Two books I have read recently, I have mentioned them before.

Can't Hurt Me - David Coggins. Biography of e only man to be a Navy Seal, Army Ranger and Air Force Tactical Air Controller. He now does Iron Man and Ultra Marathons. Had a rough start in life.

A Woman of No Importance - Sonia Purnell. Well written biography of an American one legged woman reeking havoc on the Germans in occupied France.

Both are interesting easy reads. The latter is also on Audio I believe.

Will come up with more but what popped in my mind was the author of Seabiscut and Unbroken, Laura Hillenbrand has the virus. She already has chronic fatigue syndrome. She has only written the two books that I know of. Both where made into movies.

@tinyliny , we have very similar taste. I read Educated a while ago and thought it was a great read.

Tiger King - wow! There is a reason there are so many memes on FB about this show.

I already mentioned reading The Long Walk - true story of a Polish soldier who escapes a work camp in Siberia.

I just finished reading From the Ashes by Jesse Thistle . True story of being homeless and on the streets, after being abandoned by his parents.

I am currently reading Beyond the Trees by Adam Shoalts - true story of his adventure hiking/canoeing across the Canadian Arctic on his own.

I also bought American Dirt and it will be my next read.

I just finished Tiger King on Netflix and just started watching Unorthodox - the story of a Jewish girl who runs away from the Jewish community in NY and flees to Germany (also on Netflix).

I buy movies off Amazon all the time since we don't have unlimited Internet. We just finished watching Jo Jo Rabbit and highly recommend that movie. Currently going to watch The Imitation Game

Since all horse shows and activities are canceled it's easy to for me to get sedentary with my goals.
I bought a book: "Achieve Anything In Just One Year" by Jason Harvey.
Not really a read to keep me entertained as I read one page a day and perform the action. Just something to keep me on track with goals.

Loved the "Tiger King" on Netflix.
Holy carp... lol!

I just started "Valhalla Murders" on Netflix. Nordic noir series, subtitles.

Loved the Tiger King! I know a guy like that. It was a few years ago but he had tigers, used them in films & to attract young girls, and one of those girls was killed by the Tiger. Then all of his Tigers were confiscated and it is no longer legal to own exotics at all anymore. He does magic now and various other things. Even with his shady dealings, he remains a very likeable guy.

Resurrection on Netflix. Very violent story of violent people, but lots of fine Turkish horses.

There is a very good cop series on ITV which is now on YouTube, its called 'Vera' an older woman detective played by Brenda Blethyn.

Very good, well written and well played. Set in the NE of England with beautiful scenery.

I watched "The Valhalla Murders". It was engaging.

Last night I watched a Spanish movie entitled "The Platform". It was bizarre, and VERY grim and gory. I hate gore, and will normally turn off any movie that indulges into gratuitous gore. But, the premise of this one was so wierd, and so thought provoking, . . . I just had to put up with all the rasppberry jam used for gore. Only watch if you are ok with viewing cannabalism.

It's a bummer that we have satellite internet, so Netflix & streaming shows aren't really feasible to us - well, we could watch maybe 4 shows in a month, then we'd have run out of data until next month. But there are some shows I've downloaded previously, before stops were put in place... 2 of them that come to mind, that I really enjoyed;

Mr Robot; TV series, sort of thriller, sort of... just bizarre! A show revolving around a computer hacker(never would have thought I'd be interested in something about that subject), played by Rami Malek

Good Omens; Recent TV mini-series, based on the Terry Pratchett & Neil Gaiman novel of the same name & nearly as good as the book, starring David Tenant & Michael Sheen

Books; Almost anything by Terry Pratchett - clever & silly/funny fantasy(but with a lot of truth in it) stuff! & if you like them, he wrote enough to keep anyone but speed readers busy for many months!
