Great pictures Tiny. That last one would look really blowed up for a large wall photo.

Such beautiful photographs. Sounds like a great trip! You are making me miss the USA. We live in the Southern Hemisphere but had almost 4 years living in San Diego from 2010. We went on lots of road trips visiting and camping in the desert from there: Anza Borrego, Joshua Tree, Death Valley, Zion, Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, Grand Canyon, and more. So many more places we would love to see though. We hope to make it back one day.

Re. backroads, I remember driving part of Route 66 and going through Oatman. Its a strange little place. Maybe we got that vibe because as soon as we got out of the car to stretch our legs we got accosted by a wild donkey and promptly got back in the car and left.

My dreaming has just gone up a scale x twenty!
I watched a YouTube on RVs oh boy! $3 million and some.

Mind you, I would hate to have something that posh, and most only had one bedroom, where would the dogs sleep?

They say it has everything from a washer and drier to a hot tub, but nowhere to hang dirty wet clothes!

For that sort of money I would expect a cleaner to be stowed away somewhere!

when I looked down from the overlook, at the switchbacks we would go down, my stomach dropped out from under me. I am afraid of heights. I was going to refuse to go, but I 'made' myself agree to it, since as I get older it seems easier and easier to bug out of anything 'scary', and I don't like that trend.

I was the driver, so I kept my eyes glued on the road ahead , and at one point my husbands said, "Caroline, breathe!". But, after we negotiated a couple of the pinched hairpin turns, I realized that it wasn't really dangerous. a stock trailer passed us going up (tricky to find a place wide enough in the road to pass, tho).

the remaining 18 miles of dirt road was much more challenging to drive. you had to really watch where each wheel was to avoid bottoming out, and go through some patches of loose , fine sand. But, the views were nonestop gorgeous!! I have many photos . .. to many.
