There's a couple places around me that have lessons and let you rent bows. Maybe I'll get around to doing that since I can't ride this summer.

It's fun; I started when i was young and met a lot of great people through shooting. I started as a field archer, then moved to a target archery club when my first one closed down. Shooting on your own is fine but, like riding, having a club and someone to support me helped me to gain experience at competitions.

I've always shot a recurve bow but occasionally used it in barebow classes, with all the extra bits and pieces removed. I suffer from a shoulder injury but pulled 38ibs when i was healthy and the longest distance I've shot was 140 yards in a Clout competition.

My one and only attempt at horse archery was so bad that i couldn't hit the side of a barn but it was absolutely hilarious. There are a lot of horse people involved with the sport, which may be due to having access to large open spaces.

I hope you give it a try.

My husband has his father's long bows and recurve bows - those used to be the only type you were allowed to hunt with on public hunting land in Oklahoma. I've always wanted to learn to shoot those types of bows as well, but he's worried after 40 some-odd years, the limbs might be warped and we'd have a catastrophic failure. So those are a no go. He doesn't want to chance losing them since his dad passed away when hubs was 15. :(

Anyway. I encourage anyone to give it a try, and it sounds like you have in the past. Very fun and a great way to get weird, not so much used, muscle groups into shape.

I'm figuring retirement from a full time job and spending more time with the wife and horses.

That is a hobby, isn't it???

The silent communication with horses. A trust that can't be bought, earned, or convinced, you are either their kind or your not..

Pretty much the only hobby I have is horses, but I would like to start trying glassblowing. (These expensive hobbies just seem to gravitate themselves to me)

I've started trying to skateboard (I say trying because I'm currently attempting an ollie haha) and roping (mainly heeling) so that's been fun... oh and I have a small business making custom rope halters and leads... and riding... my horse... yeah that's about it

Plant-Based Eating as Latest Hobby

https://www.bluezones.com/2018/03/gb...ighting-foods/

Loved above link for Blue Zones post giving mnemonic G-BOMBS to remember what must try to include in healthy diet each day. Friend told me yesterday that mushrooms seem to have cancer-fighting properties, so now will learn how to put more of them into diet. As currently only usually add to spaghetti sauce or chili. Will try to get and saute for dinner on more nights each week. So much to learn about healthier eating!

No time for more hobbies at the moment since I already paint, enjoy photography, snowshoeing, and well, I have horses and work full time (I also have two teens). But someday, when I have the time, I will fulfill my dream of going painting with my horse. I already paint "en plein air" - ie, on location. I've even painted on snowshoes. I have all the gear. I finally have a horse that is solid enough to carry me wherever I want to go. I just need time to put it all together and make it a reality. Soon perhaps...

I've been doing the coloring book for adults last year after having them as a present on my birthday.
I do enjoy it a lot but I am kind of busy after the holiday that I only show my creative side at night.
