Just to update, we had to cancel the trim for Saturday, our weather was appalling. But by Saturday Rose had no heat in any hoof and was cantering around playing with Boston, with no sign of soreness.
Had the trimmer out today and in her opinion the concussion of the road during the ride was probably the main issue, but as she said its hard to be sure because she didn't see her in the first days at home. The excessive green grass certainly didn't help, but she agrees that keeping the grazing to half days is best until the grass starts to die off for summer.
So hopefully all good!
loosie and SueC like this.

Just checking in. And asking one more question.

So Rose is doing well, but now I can see a red ring in her hoof, up near the coronet. She has two white feet, and you can see it there, but its likely to be in all four. Is this just the evidence of her mild laminitis, only now its grown down the hoof so you can see it. Or is it bruising, the result of the concussive forces on her hooves during the long ride? It would be three weeks since the ride now.

I can get pics if you need them.

Yeah, that will be the 'evidence' of the laminitis. Hopefully it is only a thin ring & little damage to the laminae & hoof integrity. You're right that it'll likely be in all 4(unless due only to concussive forces on the fores for eg) It could be 'bruising' due to mechanics or it could be other causes of laminitis. Is there any white hoof above the red yet?

I will have to check in the morning Loosie. I'll try and get a quick photo too.
