Cool that the horses eat the snow...we rarely get snow here

I read that horses drink more water when the water is warm, even though they prefer cold water.

I have been soaking Herbie's hay cubes with hot water. It is still warm by the time I get to the barn.

Choke is very scary to watch. My mare has had choke from eating too fast. Always have to feed her first...

Yeah I worry about choke feeding pellets not soaked. The cubes I'm throwing them in the snow. He has to look for them so slows down the eating them. I'll try soaking his Timothy pellets in hot water ,and add peppermint flavoring to it. Will do that for his morning feed tomorrow see if he'll eat it.

Yes they love eating fresh snow, water trough has a tank heater. Keeps water at about 45 degrees. They will not eat feed with salt added to it. Did see ice get a drink from water trough tonight at feeding time.

On the original topic the gold Bond powder kept everything dry. So I can probably do a bandage change, every 4 or so days.

Also treating the areas of hoof that look thrushy. He's in need of exercise at least some walking,on soft footing. Have to wait till I get other boot.

Not sure if a good idea being he's not moving much on his own. @loosie thoughts on walking him around on soft footing for some exercise. Just a fyi I'm not riding or working him.

Thinking hand walking or just walk him around yard riding him bareback. Wouldn't go faster then a walk bareback he's not comfortable, with his back bone sticking up some.

Out riding my horse.
