We are back! Probably for the final time with Bea as she has a sale pending currently. Kinda bittersweet so I figured why not bring her back here for one last go.
Bea is a 2011 Appendix mare by Before the Bell and out of a King Fritz II mare. She is currently 332 days along with her third foal. She has previously gone 342 with her first foal (a colt) and 329 on her second (a filly). She is bred to Reygans Smart Lena and is having a colt so I am expecting her to last a few more days yet even though she has been under lights since November.
All these picture where taken today so here we go! No milk yet, just grayish fluid but she tends to switch pretty fast. She didn't wax last baby but got her milk n about 5 hrs before she dropped her baby. Anyway.... Pictures!
Last night she was a bit more restless then normal with lots of yawning and working her mouth and a couple belly kicks. Up and down a lot but no real rolling to speak of. Her temp did drop this morning to 98.6 so we will see if she get her milk in today or if shes just messing with me. Here are some pictures of her, the full sibling to this baby, and the sire.
Second to last picture is an old one of her back before she was having babies when she was 4 I believe.
Does the mare carry for red or are you expecting a bay (or black) colt?
She doesn't carry red so its 75% bay or 25% black. I am really hoping for black but am betting on bay with a black and hind socks. The sire is really constant about putting a blaze and hind socks on his babies. Only a few have ended up with only a star or missing a sock.
Today’s what I calculated her foaling date to be off the last two pregnancies so we will see if I am correct or not! Slight milk changes to where it looks like skim milk and pH is still 6.2. She was really quiet last night and relaxed so maybe she is gearing up for a long night lol! She did have gray/clear wax this morning too. She’s turned out for a bit this morning and is having a grand time screaming out to her baby daddy and telling him all about her life which is cracking me up a bit. Pictures are from last night and yesterday evening, I’ll try to get some more of her today to compare. Udder picture was after being turned out for about 6 hours so it stayed nice and full!
Well don’t ask me how she did it but at 1:58 Bea has a big ole filly. Can’t tell you how surprised I am that it’s a girl!!! Can’t tell yet if she’s black or brown but I’ll get dry fluffy pictures in the morning!
