Bench knee/ Offset knee
My 12 yr OTTB gelding has bench knee, no doubt from his granddaddy Seattle Slew. I've been finding out more info about this and have read that usually horses with offset knees need shoes to balance them out but he is barefoot and seems to not have any problems.
Having benchknee, and his middle-ish age, I started him on Select brand MSM. Is there any training, supplements, exercise that is recommended?
Another inquiry is I've read about with offset knees it puts more stress on the inside cannon bone. I generally ride him on trails and he works as a training horse; two 6 yr old twins are learning to ride on him. I had plans when I got him to do some beginner hunter-jumper on the side. Wanted to know if that is advised against with the offset knee as well as what other disciplines would be ideal for him to do.
