How tall will he be?

I didn’t know where to put this, so I figured genetics would be the best place. If my 1 yr, 9 month, colt is 14.2, will he grow any taller and if so, how tall will he be?

I use a string. I put one end on the ergot and the other end on the point of the elbow. Leaving the string anchored to the elbow, turn the string upside down to reach above the withers. This is how much more your colt will grow until maturity.

Or... if you want to know the height in numbers you can measure ergot to elbow and double the length of inches. Then divide by four to get hands. I've had better luck with measuring cornet band to the middle of the knee straight up with a tape measure (not following the contours of the leg). 14 inches would be 14 H, 15 and 1/2 inches would be 15.2 hands and so on.
A foals cannon bone is pretty much the length it's going to be almost after birth. I would give it a couple of months to be more accurate.

Has anyone ever used the cornet band to middle of knee and not have it accurate? It's pretty much on the money with all of my horses. I'm curious if there are exceptions.
