SW4 in Appaloosas

Let's talk about SW4. Does anyone know about it or have any sources I could check out on it?

I got interested in it after learning Trouble was NOT SW1 or SW2, as I was almost certain he was one of those. He's almost 100% splash, and then I discovered SW4. UC Davis states SW4 runs in a certain line of appaloosas, but I cannot find which line. Another source states it has only been tested in a single horse.

I have not tested for any other splash genes YET. I plan to, once I get his vet bills sorted and have money to burn. But in my hunting for information on SW4 I realized there's very little out there on the world wide web, and now I'm even more curious.

Here is the info courtesy of a friend in genetics. SW4 found in Appaloosas of the I’za Last Jet line. Mutation in PAX3 gene.

Some horse people change their horse, they change their tack and discipline, they change their instructor; they never change themselves.

Yay!! Thank you so much! I was intrigued when I discovered it and I'm a genetics nerd, so I wanted to know more, but couldn't find much. Thank you!

You're welcome. I'll pass that thanks along.

Okay now I'm very, very intrigued! Trouble shares many, many, many of the same relatives!! Might bump his testing up a few notches in my priority list!
