Bad language and forum censor

This forum has always had a PG rating and so has always had an automated censor and a Rule pertaining to the use of bad language.
We realize that this can be irritating to some users, its very easy to forget that you aren't on an adult only forum,
We're also very aware that the language that's censored here is common on most school playgrounds.

Occasionally words that aren't considered inappropriate in some countries will cause offense to users from other countries. We will deal with those on a case by case basis.

That doesn't mean that we can ignore the PG rating, we're obliged to comply with it under the rules that the forum owners insist we follow.

Now that the requirement to enter a date of birth on registration has been removed, age verification is no longer possible. The forum was always accessible for 'read only' purposes to non members of any age.
We don't have anything in place to warn parents that there might be 'bad language' on the site because the site is PG. Parents should be able to confidently allow their children to read anything on this site, either alone or under their supervision.

We have had to tighten things up since that change went into place but the censor itself hasn't changed much since the original owner first started this forum.

Please do not type around censors*, do not use symbols to partially or entirely replace censored words and do not use well known abbreviations for censored words.

If you notice that a word you've used has been censored you have 20 minutes to edit your own post. If you've gone over that time you can report your own post and ask us to edit it.

* There are two exceptions to the 'no typing around censors' rule:

1.There are several words that are commonly used in a non offensive way that unfortunately, are frequently used in an inappropriate way, so they have had to be included on the censor list.
If you need to use one of those words in a non - vulgar way you are allowed to add a punctuation mark or a number to replace one of the letters or you can insert a '.' in between the letters
2. For some reason the censor gets 'hyperactive' at times and has been censoring out words that we don't allow when they appear within a perfectly acceptable word.
The Tech Team is aware of this issue.
If this happens to you, you can use the above suggestions to type around the censor within the edit time or you can report the post to us and we'll do it for you.

Just winging it is not a plan
