Can't post link to YOuTube

I tried to post a video that is on YouTube. The link includes V8N q Q hnDgE8, only without the spaces. I added the spaces because if I don't, HF turns it into: V8N**hnDgE8 - and that ruins the link.

A different YouTube link works fine, although it doesn't embed:

If I create a YouTube link to the original one I want to link, it still turns the 2qs into **, breaking the link. The video is to "Horse Training: Teaching a Horse to Perform a Rollback".

Help?

And now that I POSTED a thread, instead of previewed it, the Dave Stamey video embedded normally...both times.

?????

I had this problem once. I think you are right that the problem is having two Qs in a row. I'm not well versed on every type of profanity out there, but two Qs turn into **. Not sure why that would be blocked? My Youtube video URL ended in two Qs, and I could not get it to embed at all.

Ah, the old "Double Q Curse", eh @gottatrot ? Sounds like something a drill instructor would do: "You maggot! You aren't just a Q. You are a DOUBLE Q!" My daughter starts boot camp this month. Hope she doesn't get the "Double Q" curse laid on her...

Very cool, @mmshiro ! I was totally clueless - a state I spend a large part of my life in! In fact, I get to vote as a resident in their elections...

Ha, ha - it's still a mystery though why Q Q is outlawed. I snooped around a bit, and I think it's a texting shorthand for "crying", used as response to a post where "This is the world's smallest violin, and it's playing just for you!" would be appropriate.

Took me a minute to figure it out too. He used a URL shortener, which was a service provided by goo.gl (being discontinued so not open to new users). Notice the link has goo.gl in front of it.

Here is another one called Bitly:
https://bitly.com/
If you put your link in, it gives you a new, shorter one.

Another old embed trick on this site used to be to delete the "s" out of a Youtube link that began as "https" - that may no longer be relevant given the security upgrade on the forum a few months ago. Out of habit, I still delete the "s" when linking here.

To satisfy my curiosity, trying it both ways with the same video link below...

"http"

"https"

ETA: looks like both embedded

Anybody ever watched "**uigley Down Under"?

Oh wait...that is spelled "Quigley Down Under". One Q. My bad.

Guess there isn't much doubt about the issue. Does the forum REALLY need to ban the Dreaded Double Q? Particularly in a YouTube link?
