Strange pop up ads suddenly appearing

Within the last 2ish to 3 weeks, I've been getting pop up ads coming up when on the forums.

I'm on a laptop/pc, google chrome, standard desktop site, and never had the issue before. Some of the video ads that plague me have an X in the corner but it won't allow me to click it and close it, so I've just been dealing with them- but tonight a very large Dodge truck video ad popped up and covered nearly my entire window, and it would not allow me to opt out of it. When it ended it just stayed black and never let me close it- I had to close my browser. I know this might not be a HF issue, but just thought I'd give a heads up, or see if anyone else had this issue and knows how to deal with it. I have a pop up blocker that's served me well for years but I guess these fly under the radar.

Those ads are what pay for this site to exist free to members.
Annoying as they are...

2 things I would do and actually I do do often is empty your cookies cache...
You will need to re-enter log-in and passwords to sites that automatically load for you currently as you're wiping a memory section clean.
What it though does is wipes out all the tracking cookies, that is what then is used for selecting your ad content that over-runs your page.
Second thing to do is make sure your ad-blocker is up and running properly...
Windows and several of the search engines of Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome all had major upgrades to them...that knocks your ad blocker out of sync and by-passes it...
If the major engines did work so did all the smaller ones to keep pace.
Make sure you refresh, report and follow the prompts to get you up to running properly with efficiency again.
And last but not least is log off, shut down and restart your device no matter what it is so all the programs are now working at full capacity.
With the closures from the pandemic there are so many sites now hacking computers/devices the upgrades made by the computer programmers were done to best protect us all...

At least you aren't being plagued by ads for sex toys, online dating/porn sites...
I'll take a truck ad over "undesirables" any day, annoying as these ads are...
...

The worst day is instantly better when shared with my horse.....
