I say, donít. My new OTTB boarder is body clipped. He is STILL filthy, and the blanketing/unblanketing/changing blankets/the WHOLE barn is covered with ONE horseís blankets and it is a PAIN. If I had realized he was clipped when we negotiated a price, I would have charged DOUBLE!!

Clipped horses are a pain, especially if boarded, because then your horse's health and comfort are at the whim of the barn, and honestly I wouldn't trust the people in your barn to blanket him appropriately.

It's late in the season to clip as the summer coat is very close to starting to come in. Leave it this winter and re-evaluate come fall.

I agree that the horse does not need to be fully clipped.

I disagree about it being to late to clip. I would clip my horses - all in hard work Fox Hunting, this time of the year, the racehorses might well be done as late as February amd it made no difference to their summer coats.

As for continuously swapping rugs (blankets), I never did. They would have a cotton sheet, of it was really cold a thick blanket and then their rug on top. If they were turned out they had on a waterproof rug,
