Mane pulling.

Dealer's mane needs pulled badly! It needs a good three inches took off and even at that its still a considerate length!
How do you pull a mane properly? How do you get it a certain length if your pulling the hair out?
Never pulled a mane before as I always had someone else do it, it looks painful.

Its not too hard to do. If you aren't used to doing it, it will take you a little while. Also if your horse isn't used to having his mane pulled he probably won't like it very much and might keep trying to shake you off.

To pull it, you take a small section of hair, back comb it a couple of times with a mane pulling comb, and pull the section out. just keep working your way down the mane until you get the desired length.

Here is pretty good video:

I personally find it easier to wrap around the comb. Do the same thing- comb backwards, but I wrap the lock of hair around the comb once or twice and then give it a good tug. It holds a better grip and is a lot easier to pull. That's just my preferance though.

He carried me away from all my fears, and his mane was there to wipe my tears. -RIP Vegas, my best friend.

I wrap the hair around too. You just have to find what works for you.
