Pink skin

Hey! Well I just traded my APHA barrel horse for a sour horse. He is a black & mostly white paint with pink skin almost everywhere, including his face. He has sunburn on it and I was afraid his body may be get burnt, so I was wondering if anyone knew of anything to prevent this? And anything I can put on his face to make the burn go away, and what to do to keep it away?

I would recommend a fly sheet with UV protection for his body, along with sunscreen and a UV mask for his face, you can get a full face cover with a cover for the nose. You can also get a good 50spf sunscreen with titanium dioxide and put it on his face to protect it from further damage as well.

As for the burn he already has aloe helps take the heat out, but you have to prevent further burning. If your able keep him out of the sun during the day and put him out at night.

I've had a UV mask before on him a few days ago, but he always loses it in pasture! Our pasture is 12 acres so it's hard to find daily..

My paint Angel is mostly white with pink skin as well. In the summer she would get horrible sunburned. This year I found something that finally worked for her.

This fly sheet:

With this neck sheet:
Mosquito Mesh Fly Neck Cover in Mosquito Mesh Fly Sheets at Schneider Saddlery

And this fly mask:

I've never had an issue with her legs getting burned, but I have noticed that flies tend to like to bite her legs more than Jinxx, bay, so if you also have that problem or have a problem with them getting burned I would recommend these:
Roma Mesh Leg Wraps | Jeffers Pet

Gal on the move (aka Angel), American paint mare, 1991 - 2017
Wc jae bar drifter (aka Jinxx), American quarter horse gelding, 2011 - current
Rockin the rocker (aka Twig), American quarter horse gelding, 1994 - 2011
