Can a horse have ' morning sickness"?

Okay, so it is quite possibly the stupidist question that ever came to my head but, reading all the " my mare is pregnant, and I had no idea" threads made me wonder.

I have wondered the same thing. Contemplated it more lately as I just went through horrible morning sickness myself.

When I breed field spaniels my bitch got morning sickness, so if a human and dog can, why not a horse?

Doesnt morning sickness make you throw up? And horses cant throw up so the only thing it would be akin to is colic...which isnt good, so Im gonna say no. But keep in mind this is just what I think, could be totally wrong.

Morning sickness doesn't *always* make you throw up. I was horribly sick with both my girls but only threw up once.

Mostly, I was just really, really irritable, cranky, exhausted no matter how much sleep I got and felt like crud!

I have no idea on if horses get morning sickness though!
