The one is about 1/8 the price of the other, and I've read reviews that say they tried Equaide and then went to the much cheaper Proudsoff and found it worked better or as well and vice versa, so I thought I'd ask here.
Our pony has a wound that was healing well about the 2 1/2 inches wide and 3 1/2 inches long, and it is below the knee. Our vet is coming out Wednesday - too booked to come out sooner without an emergency- to floats all the horses' teeth, and I'll have him check it, but it could not have been stitched by the time I saw it, so other than antibiotics, there is little else to do but try to make sure proud flesh doesn't develop and keep it clean. I had wrapped it, but it had scabbed over, so I did not bother with that anymore.
It had scabbed over and today it was oozing a bit again where she'd pulled it open. . .and it does not feel hot and she doesn't favor it or mind me cleaning it, but the small amount of drainage does smell pretty foul. I cleaned it with saline, put a wound care cream I have on hand on it and wrapped it because she is turned out and it is a muddy mess here. If it would be better to stall her, I can swap a stall out for her, but I figured it would stay cleaner outside than in a stall.
So, the moral is what have you found - even outside the two above products - without giving a home remedy because I really want a single topical cream - that works for preventing or taking care of proud flesh and healing?
This is Lucy - just for the heck of it ;) I have no photos at the moment of the injury
