Feeling Sad ~ Need encouragement *** WARNING PICS ARE GRAPHIC!!!!***

So I know I did the right thing with my horse, I just miss her soooo much!! I know its only been 3 weeks, but I still cry about it every night, and was wondering if anyone has any advice on how to make this easier on myself.

Here is my horse's story:

And here are some pictures of her foot. I guess I just want to be reassured I did the right thing, I miss her soo much!! :(

Everyone keeps telling me I did everything I could, so I don't know what I'm really looking for posting this, but my poor baby. That's what keeps going through my mind, it was just so unexpected. And I know, thats life, but this isn't easy, and honestly I think I need some encouragement since I'm horseless now too.

So yeah, any encouragement would be appreciated.

I had a hard time after my horse coliced and was euthanized. I got over the blaming phase and realized that I made the best decision.

Hang in there

You made the right decision. It can be so hard to let go of our precious animals, especially when they are in the prime of their life. Quality of life is so important and after reading your story, I hope that you know that hers wouldn't have been good. You released her from her pain and while it hurts us so, it is the kindest gift that anyone can give.

Stay strong and keep her in your memory.

I'm so sorry, I read your other thread and I know what she meant to you. I am so glad that she got to have you and you got to have her. You did what was best for her even though it feels awful right now. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

You are never better than anyone. Every rider has skills they need to improve. The only one you must compare yourself with, is you.

That is awful, and I really, truly am sorry. You mentioned it, so I will take the liberty to say, that you are right- she did her job, and now it is time she pass so another one can fullfill theirs. You only did what you could..imagine the pain she would have been in for the rest of her life? She now has it no more, all thanks to you...you saved her like she saved you :) <3 Best of wishes hun.

Honey, my heart aches for you. I know what it's like to lose a beloved horse so unexpectedly. She's left a big hole in your heart. You will heal, in time. Fill that hole she left with lots of fond memories, silly antics and quiet cuddles. You've already proven you are a strong person - you'll get through this - I have faith in you!

I honestly can't say anything more eloquently than some of the previous posters but I, too, believe you did the right thing. It is always hard to let go of a loved one but I am proud that you did what was best for her instead of what was best for yourself.

It will take quite a bit of time but it will get easier as time goes on. Don't feel guilty about anything, you did everything you could and you bravely made the decision to let her go quietly instead of prolonging her suffering. Try to think about the happy times that you had together, think about the times that she made you laugh and the times that she was there to catch your tears on her mane. She was there for you as best she could be and you returned the favor.

((((BIG HUGS))))
