Fluctuating swelling in a hind leg?
Hello everyone, my gelding has me at a loss yet again...... Yesterday when I went out to feed I found that he had a swollen hind leg, it was not huge, but swollen enough that there was no tendon definition. He was not lame on it, and it seemed maybe a little warm. I had to be to work, so I cold hosed it and applied Sore-No-More liniment and left to go to work. My friend checked it for me about 2 hours after I left, and said that it was still a little swollen but that he had tendon definition. So I went out to wrap it that night after work (10:30 at night) and it was swollen with no tendon definition again, so I wrapped both hind legs and left him over night. I removed the wraps at about 10 this morning, and the swelling had decreased, but was still there and had dropped some. I had to go to work again, so my friend checked him for me at 8 this evening, and said that it was back to be being swollen without any tendon definition again. So I went out to wrap at 10:30 again, and his leg has almost no swelling and is almost completely normal. So my question is what can cause so much fluctuation in swelling, while causing no lameness, in only one leg? Also he is out on pasture 24/7 so stocking up is very unlikely (add to that the fact that it is only one leg, it seems almost impossible for that to be the issue) Thanks for any input!
