I'm just reading this sad update..

I'm so sorry it ended like this..
Gracie fought a valiant battle but her fight ended when God wanted her home in his house to watch run and play.
You did all you could do and when the news came of her sudden turn, you immediately released her struggle...
That is what loving, truly loving a animal does...you put all else aside and do what is in the animals best interest first.
Your hearts are breaking I'm sure and words never seem enough...
Know we all care, we all stand with you in sadness and agreement that all was done...but sometimes it is just time to go home...
And now Gracie is home...

RIP sweet Grace...you''re loved far more than words tell and were sent homeward bound to be at peace forevermore.
Godspeed ...run with the winds of the heavens playing with you....

I am so very sorry to hear that Gracie didn't make it. Know that you did everything in your power to help her. I hope that when the pain of her loss subsides, that you can remember all the joy she gave to you.

I'm so sorry to hear this. Do they know what caused all of her issues? Hugs to you and your daughter on the loss of your special mare.

@rambo99 we are moving on. Losing Gracie has been tough. My daughter goes back and forth on whether she wants another horse or wants to wait until after college. I am encouraging her to get a horse now. We have 3 horses left at home but 1 is not gaited and has Navicular and is 21yrs old this year. My daughters boyfriend rides her as she is a sweet soul and with Osphos and Ground Control shoes can be ridden just not more than once a week or she gets too sore.

We always rode as a family and I don't want her (or us) to miss out on that while we still have her at home. She has looked at some horse ads and mentioned contacting some people but her heart really isn't into it. That being said - it is NW IL and it is really cold still and we have had nothing but ice and she is 6 hours away from home at college. I thing once summer gets closer she will get the urge to have a horse of her own (I hope)

I appreciate the continued prayers. It really is like losing a member of the family. I still go out to feed and look for her.
