Hock Arthritis: Help!

My vet recently told me that my horse is prone to arthritis and soreness in hocks. It recently has flared up and I am looking into alternatives to hock injections. What would you recommend?
I'm thinking either cold wraps or the Back on Track hock boots. I know they work in different ways, but I'm not sure which I should try first. Help?
Thank you in advance!

BoT hock boots are good, stick them on while you are grooming and it should be good for when you ride. Look into Pentosan/Adequan/Legend, you can get it from your vet. They are IM/IV injections you give in series that help with arthritis.

How do the xrays look? Why skip injections if that's what the vet is recommending?

My mare started riding a little stiff behind, and X-rays showed only mild arthritic changes, not surprising given she was 20 at the time. So far, daily Cosequin has been enough for her. But if vet thought we had progressed to needing injections, I'd do that rather than muddle around the edges.

I would definitely talk to your vet. Some good suggestions. What does "prone" to arthritis mean, conformationally? How old is said horse? Is there any arthritis there now..it's flared up?

Why not use Legend, which can be given intravenously ?
There are also oral supplements, but results are often not consistent, and those oral joint supplements are not regulated, as to content, as drugs that fall under FDA
Movement is also key in an arthritic horse\
Also, depending on which hock joint is affected, it can sometimes be chemically fused, and then pain is gone, although movement might alter
