Well, this is all good information. I have reiners and that sport is extremely hard on their joints. My last trainer would use Adequan once a month and then right before a show. He used this on all horses, sore or not. If a horse was more likely to be sore or an older horse he would up the dose to 2x a month.

Now, I also have an X racehorse and she has kissing spine, fused spine and bone spurs on her neck (basically she is a wreck) I keep her on SmartPak Senior. It is amazing. I use the powder and mix a small amount of water in with her feed to make the powder stick to food. When she is off it she is sore and stiff and her hind end is awkward. She isn't perfect b/c her body can't move perfectly because her spine is fused, but I see a huge difference. Oh and I am not a sales person for SmartPak, but they do put a lot of research on their products.

I am interested in trying the Pentasan. One of my boarders use a glucosamine shot. there is a loading dose in the beginning, but now I think it's once a week. I don't know about you guys, but glucosamine works wonders for me. LOL.

Subbing. Good discussion guys! I may have to add something for Red next year, so all this information is great.

It is not enough to know how to ride; one must know how to fall.
